We spent a very pleasant week there. I took the time to do a complete and objective assessment.
More:
Atmosphere, cachet, tranquility, look
Very complete facilities, you can arrive here with only your clothes and food, regardless of the season
Kitchen very well (only the dishwasher is missing, but it is known)
Temperature management
Air conditioning works well, helped by the fans (tested in heat waves)
Lots of firewood (not tested, it's summer), heat pump + heaters
Several blankets on the beds
Users Guide
Bottled water provided (see “Water” section below)
Vacuum cleaner, mop, siphon, mosquito repellent etc. available if ever needed
Lots of space inside and outside
Internet (Wi-Fi) works very well. Non-functional cellular coverage indoors (except glued to a window), but functional (a little fragile) in the field (Telus) Very limited coverage with Fizz.
Recycling available
Despite the fact that we are in the middle of the woods, we are about 30 minutes from Saguenay (Chicoutimi)
Security:
Smoke detector, CO detector, fire extinguisher, can to put out fires
Less:
Communication with Variable Tavata. Sometimes they respond very quickly, sometimes it takes a long time.
Water
In the user guide, it is mentioned that the water is drinkable. I inquired if the water was tested on a regular basis and was told the water was tested 3 years ago. I found the answer very disappointing. We have been drinking untested water, which seems to come straight from the river, for several days without knowing it. I suggested they put up signs saying the water can't be considered safe because it's not tested regularly and have their user guide changed…they showed no openness to this subject. They already provide bottled water anyway so I don't understand. I didn't appreciate their stubbornness in telling me that "it's okay, because his brother doesn't have his water tested and that's how it is in the region". Tavata are chalet rental managers, that's their raison d'être.
The toilet seat does not fit well. I tried to tighten the screws, without success
The power outlet to the left of the sofa is missing a plate and does not work. Power outlet behind the dresser has no plate.
Electrical outlet with bare wires outside on the tree
Bedroom (1) no ceiling, good for heating and cooling, but not for soundproofing
Bathroom no ceiling and no fan - window not easily accessible
Spa - several jets not working and head pillows missing. We must put a quantity of bromine per person who goes there, but I do not know if the water is tested. I dare not ask. The water was clear. The SPA does not appear to be protected by a GFCI circuit breaker
Bedroom (1) and bathroom doors that only close from the inside or do not stay closed without locking them.
Bedroom door to one bed almost impossible to lock, especially at night in the dark
Hole dug near the house and pipe comes out without explanation? It seems to be the water inlet to the pump.
Surrounding buildings in a disappointing mess
BBQ that makes funny cracklings at start-up. It also lacks a plastic button.
Compost supposed to be available but when I asked where the bin was I was told it hadn't been delivered to our cottage yet
A little expensive
Opportunities for improvement:
Wood stove with craft handle, it looks weird
Provide extension cords and power strips.
Have a list of items included to allow them better inventory management and help customers
Small bottles of Naya water provided. A bigger container would be better.
Install a thermometer in the fridge.
More than perfect!
Super nice staff responsible for the place, clean chalet and magical place!
Take minimum 3 nights and bring your dog!!
Super nice location, peaceful and close to nature. However, lack of many things in the kitchen while the information was what was complete... No kindling, paper or functional lighter to go with the fireplace... The spa was great! A few small improvements and it would have been a perfect stay!
A magnificent, fully equipped chalet on the banks of the river. Everything is well thought out for an excellent stay!
+Very nice stay, recommend the place without worries. Very comfortable family of 4.
-price too high in my opinion.
