Freeway camper van kit - Ensemble de camping Car Freeway

I would highly recommend Malibu 2 for people who are looking for an economical and nimble road trip solution.

After comparing our needs to the different models of Freeway Camper kits, my wife and I purchased the Malibu 2 unit for our Honda Odyssey this year and did a 2-month tour from Ontario to Vancouver Island.

In addition to buying the core unit, we also purchased the window coverings, compressor fridge and 500 watt power pack. For cooling and air circulation, we found it useful to build a few screens for the passenger door windows and purchase a few small usb powered fans that clamp to the interior handles of our minivan (these fans can be powered using the small power packs often used for backup cell phone power). If you wish to have more storage space in the back, you can also take out the gray water tank from under the sink as it is removable, which we did.

As most people looking for a unit of this nature know, there are always trade-offs when it comes to the type of equipment you might use for a road trip. A big RV is very nice when parked (e.g., lots of headroom and generally its own bathroom), but they can be a driving challenge for many people and they can be very expensive to buy and operate. With the Malibu 2 you are driving a minivan that you may already own. As a result, it is quite economical and very nimble (e.g., if as part of your trip you plan to stay in a hotel in Vancouver for a few days, you can just park the van in the underground parking – something that would generally not be an option with most RVs). The Malibu 2 proved to have a great mix of qualities for us, and we are looking forward to another trip next summer (hopefully Covid will be less of a concern by then).

My 9 year old and I have never road tripped so easily. Element Kit is easy to install and perfect for us. Worth the money!

I installed the Freeway camper kit in my Honda Element. It is well engineered, sturdy, and easy to assemble. I considered trying to build my own, but the Freeway kit is much nicer than any homemade solution, and very cost effective. I can't wait to camp! (The picture was during the install, I will take another when I am "camping ready")

I have been really happy with the Nomad camper kit that Jean-Pierre at Freeway Camper installed in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica last November. The quality is very good and the creative features work smoothly. It was a pleasure to communicate with Jean-Pierre. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Where ever I camp in the states, people want to see the kit and are very impressed with it because it is so unique and beautifully made and thought out.

I searched a long time for a cargo and bed solution for the Honda Element, mine is a 2003 and I am the original owner, great car. Finally I took the chance to get the Freeway Camper solution. The bed is fantastic, the cargo space underneath, and a lot of thought went into this design for ease of access and small work surface in back and optimal scaling and size. Truly an excellent product and I highly recommend it.
