One of my favourite places to eat in Saskatoon! The pear and blue cheese salad is fantastic
Two words: Carrot Cake. Yes, I admit that carrot cake isn't for everyone but the good news is that Prairie Ink Restaurant and Bakery has a massive selection of cakes, pastries and perfectly baked cookies! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. You can also pop in and order a slice of cake or pie to go! Finding parking is fairly easy and once your done noshing, you can wander through the old school bookstore (McNally Robinson) that Prairie Ink shares there space with. Perfect spot to spend time catching up with friends or taking time to relax and appreciate life.
Not sure why this place doesn't get more hype - probably just because they've been here for a while, but they consistently provide friendly, casual service and delicious food and drinks! Their lunch and dinner menus are well balanced and varied, and I love everything I try. They have the best homemade soup in the city and are creative with their flavour combinations while still staying true to what "works". Their dessert selection is amazing and they have the best carrot cake I've ever had (and I don't even like carrot cake). My partner and I love trying new places but this will always be in our top 5 for a glass of wine and a relaxing meal out.
I heard the cheesecake from Prairie Ink is really good. So I ordered a cheesecake from the restaurant on Friday for our worker's birthday. When the cake was picked up today, I found that it's not what I ordered. It is a Triple Chocolate Fantasy cake instead. I called the restaurant and the manager responded politely and offered to give us another cheesecake. We got the cheesecake and it tastes really really good! This is the best cheesecake I've ever had and I would def recommend the bakery!
This is our favorite place to eat in the city. The atmosphere, food and service are phenomenon. The servers are attentive and skilled. The bathrooms are located in the bookstore which give you a great chance to browse games or books at the same time you wash up for supper. I did catch one of the chefs checking his phone in the kitchen...slightly concerning as people seldom sanitize their phones and the chefs do not use gloves when preparing food. We had the unfortunate experience of finding a hair in one of our dishes. (These things do happen despite precautions being taken) We told our server to see how she would handle it and she apologized and removed the plate from our bill. I have eaten at many restaurants in Saskatoon and this continues to be my number one recommendation.
