Whatcom Family Co-op Preschool is affiliated with the Whatcom Community College Parenting Education Program. Parents/guardians earn 9 college credits per school year, and after 18 credits they earn a WCC's short-term professional technical certificate in parenting skills.
As WCC students parents/care givers enjoy student benefits on and off campus (free access to the gym, bus pass, free computer and technical support, emergency student fund support through the WCC foundation, access to 'films on demand' through the library, veteran services, personal counseling services, etc). The teacher participates in monthly professional development sessions at WCC.
Whatcom Family Co-op preschool offers an educational experience for both parents/care givers and children.
The Parenting Education program at WCC is member of The Organization of Parenting Education Programs in Washington State (OPEP)
Our daughter has loved her two years here. It’s a great opportunity to meet other parents and participate in your child’s preschool experience. The tuition is really reasonable compared with most schools. The inclusion model is one of the reasons we chose this program and we like that it is housed in an elementary school so there is exposure to the school system she’ll be entering next year. The staff is great, they’re caring and communicative. We highly recommend it!
Our son has recently started at Whatcom Coop preschool and is having such a blast! He has responded quickly to Teacher Renee's gentle, nurturing approach and thinks "she's the best lady!" The environment encourages exploration and he has already shown growth in his social skills. We love it!
We love Whatcom family COOP. Teacher Renee is so warm and nourturing! My daughter has gotten so much out of the inclusion model; she is learning compassion and even a little sign language. I love getting to volunteer in the classroom and have learned so much from the parenting education classes. Being inside the elemantary school has proved to be a great asset to get ready for kindergarten. And of course the community of families we have met through the coop are wonderful!
My daughter has attended Watcom Family Coop Preschool for the last two years. It has been an incredible growth experience for her. Teacher Renee makes class fun and does a great job of meeting kids where they are and helping them grow. WFCP does a great job of educating, not just the whole child, but also the whole family, with the family connections meetings and volunteer days in the classroom. Also, the preschool is very affordable.
