I love our new Point Roberts public library!
It has more space for computers, displays, meetings and books. Every staff member has helped me one way or another - book ordering, using online resources, local knowledge, the book club, perfect book recommendations, and more.
Point Roberts Public Library is one of the most welcoming places in town. The friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff can help you find the perfect book, suggest movies for home viewing, help you look something up, assist you in copying documents, give you directions - the list is almost endless. Our library is a very important part of our community, and our wonderful new building has many books, games, CDs and DVDs, computers, comfortable chairs and reading nooks, a children's area and a teen area. Ongoing events include game nights, story time for children, craft events for all ages, book sales, puppet shows, and now movie nights. It is a wonderful place to visit.
The new library is wonderful -- open, light, welcoming. And welcoming also applies to the staff. Being able to pick up "holds" 7-days-a-week is a great new benefit offered by Whatcom County Library System at its Point Roberts branch. (I particularly like the so-called plagiarized books.)
i always feel a very special sense of community when i come into this library. i felt it in the old building and was pleased to feel it in the new one. this library is community. i'd invite everyone to wander in when we are open. but dont all come at once. it'll spoil the charm. what i told my friends after the first few visits was that i had never been in a library where you could chat. i'd grown up being silent and shushed in libraries. this was a fun alternative. the librarians have become my family and dear friends.
