Alex Marino is a wealth of knowledge and experience. He assisted in getting things done quickly, efficiently and explained everything in great detail. I would recommend him to everyone.
I hired Moodys to do my Canadian and U.S. taxes, and I won't do it again.
They did a mostly-competent job, and I'm satisfied with the end product. I wasn't satisfied with the process. Summary:
1. Deadlines. I asked up front for everything to be done significantly ahead of deadlines. By March 23, I had sent them all they asked for. On May 1, I got an emergency email saying that I needed to take action before a deadline the next day, or lose money.
Later deadlines were also not well communicated, and had to be explicitly asked for. This was a constant source of stress; for this reason alone, I wouldn't employ them again.
2. Multiple, separate requests for information I'd already sent. I gather this is an issue of internal process, not an issue of competence.
3. Frustrating interactions. When I read their draft of my U.S. taxes, there was a problem. I asked about it, and got a strange response that couldn't possibly be a useful answer to my question. Resolving the issue took multiple emails, a week of radio silence, and a phone call to a manager.
For reference, the question was "Why is my health insurance in a box labelled 'insurance (other than health)'?". The initial response was, roughly, "That's just copied from your Canadian taxes."
4. Indifference. I mentioned in passing to a manager that I was frustrated and looking forward to finishing my relationship with Moodys, with no response. I followed up later; she said she was willing to discuss my frustration once the taxes were filed. Neither of us followed up, in my case because she didn't seem interested.
