I have two kids ages(10 and 5) attending the Karate classes. This plays an important role in building their self confidence and strength. With the current pandemic and closure of the facilities, the training continued via online karate lessons with the same quality of teaching and guidance. Practicing has now become part of the daily routine at home . Custom videos are made by the instructor for each of my kids on almost weekly basis. The progress is clear. My elder got a promotion and the young one may be on his way. This has been a positive experience during this challenging time.
I am a longtime participant of the yoga class . I have found the instructor, Jennifer, to have an in depth knowledge and expertise. She has helped me to effectively build a home practice and to practice yoga in a way that increases my overall health and well being !
I am grateful to have been a student of the Northern River Yoga School since ~2010. Jen is an amazing teacher, this practice is literally life-changing and the yoga school is comfortable and nurturing environment. With her kind and relentless support, I am stronger, more open and flexible and better centred today than in my 30s.
Ken is an awesome karate teacher. Our daughter loves going to her classes.
The Edmonton Northern River Yoga and Karate School has been offering amazing traditional Karate and Yoga training to neighbourhoods in Edmonton for decades. I started attending the school when I was in junior high and have been going ever since. The teachers are dedicated, caring and supportive. The other students are positive and engaging - many have become friends of mine.
The classes are accessible for beginners because there is focus on learning, not competitiveness. Family members are encouraged to learn alongside their sons/daughters and there is a kids specific program offered as well.
The instructors at Northern River truly care about student development and progress is individualized and achievable.
The fees are very reasonable (the school is non-profit) and the ability to have up to 16 adult classes per month for one cost is great.
I can't recommend this school enough- if you are new (or not!) to Karate or Yoga, have an interest in trying something new with encouraging people, or would like your kids to participate in a positive environment, you've found your school.
