“My mother was cremated and buried at Glenwood in January of 2018. She had prepaid for her own funeral. It went okay but Glenwood’s required viewing of the body was a bit disturbing. It left a mark in my memory. Didn’t know then but I know now that the “required viewing” was not a requirement of “law” but rather it is only Glenwood’s policy. For your information, if cremated, a viewing costs an extra $1700 or more on top of all other funeral expenses. Cancer took my wife in April of 2018 at 55 years of age. It was so difficult, previous to her passing I met with a Glenwood representative to make arrangements but it didn’t go well. I became frustrated and confused with their company policies that dictate to consumers what is required by Glenwood but is not required by law. There were also other selling tactics that sent up warning flags. It certainly felt like I was being set up to be taken advantage of by the same company policies that make no sense but to inflate costs. For example....if one is being “cremated” why does Glenwood’s cremation package include embalming? It didn’t make any sense to me and the law does not require it either. It was easier to stop the meeting and walk away than to go forward. I found a better funeral home than this one.”
