I love coming to Heritage Park for the Live Nativity Pageant. I come every year with my family on Christmas Eve. This tradition really brings the Christmas spirit to my family during the holiday. We love to get all cozy on the benches with several blankets. It is cold and right by the water so it is important to dress very warm. The Nativity only lasts about 15 min and it is free! It is put on by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a service to the community. They are not pushy with their religious views. There are provided outhouses. They have live animals that you can take your pictures with and pet as well. The event usually lasts about a week.
Had our corporate children's Christmas party here. Rented out the Barn for our event. Fully catered by the park. The entire experience was great. The food was awesome. And all the kids and families had a great time in the venue and also with all the events going on in the oak during that time. The Christmas park events are pretty awesome.
My only complaints would be better signage for our event, as for people who don't go to the oak regularely, the Barn is kinda hard to locate. And random strangers kept walking in on our event as there was no private event signage outside.
Also, we had just gotten a major snow storm the day before and the entire park was one huge ice rink. So many slips and falls. It was pretty bad and although not the fault of the park at all, I would have liked to have seen some salt or gravel or anything put down to help out with the situation which didn't show up until much later in the day.
The place is really good for families to go. We went just before Christmas and they have lots of activities to do. The staff that works here are great. He admission is a little pricey and the food is a little bit expensive so I highly recommend for families to bring their own water for hydration and bring a coffee on your own. Other than that, I still highly recommend for families to come here as there are Always activities for them to do.
Always a delight coming here during the holidays! More than just for kids, its quite entertaining for adults too! Recommend checking out the auto museum. Great old school classic cars in there! And during the holidays, specially closer to Christmas, theres a free live performance of the nativity by the grounds! We come here every year for the grounds and the live performances!
The Once Upon a Christmas event is great. There is a kids only shop where they can buy presents for the family. The prices are really reasonable and the kids love to make their choices in secret. There are also free crafts, outdoor maze, caroling, meeting Santa etc. However, the Christmas brunch buffet was really poor this year. We have been several times before but this time the food was not very warm (French toast was especially cool) and the buffet items were not restocked (particularly the deserts and cheese). The bacon was so overcooked it was inedible. The cheese platter became dried out and rubbery. It was even hard to find a desert plate as they were not restocked. There were meant to be two sittings after ours. It looked like there were not many bookings which may have contributed but if the standard drops like this, then they won't get any return customers. I was also disappointed that visitors have to pay for parking on top of the entrance fee. It's in the middle of nowhere so only those using the parks will be parking there. It is actually just a rise in admission fee disguised as a parking charge.
