“I post the Google reviews for our family, so I’m posting this on behalf of my wife Alli: I booked in with Dr. Arlette (who is a Board-certified Dermatologist) for a fee for service consultation due to cyclic and uncomfortable rosacea and irritation of the skin on my face and neck since October (5 months). I’ll omit the full details, but the high level is that I have been to see my GP twice with very limited success and was starting to feel very anxious about having to wait another 3-6 months for a medical referral to a Dermatologist to receive more qualified care. After the last breakout last week which left my face and neck hot and red and with bumps all over my cheeks for several days, I was overjoyed when I found out I could pay to access Dr. Arlette and his clinic. It has been a week now since that first consult and the beginning of skin treatment under Dr. Arlette’s supervision and I am still overjoyed! Dr. Arlette advised me to immediately discontinue the creams that had been prescribed by the GP as they could be harmful to my skin, and prescribed an oral antibiotic and new, gentler cream. He also gave me some great samples of products that I have been using and find them to be very gentle and also nourishing for my skin. His nurse Celina took photos so that we could clearly measure the success of next steps. And then Celina emailed me personally after the consultation so that I could follow up with her directly with any concerns. Dr. Arlette also provided advice on other factors that I need to watch out for which could lead to flare ups (not surprisingly, he was right about all of them!). As there was a lot to cover, Dr. Arlette asked me at the end of the consultation to repeat what we had discussed to make sure I was clear on the changes I needed to make. And then finally asked me if I felt more educated about my skin at the end. I definitely did! This was a very refreshing experience for me for a specialist of his calibre to take the time to educate and empower me about my skin care and skin health. Overall, not only have I avoided a breakout for an entire week, but while my skin is still in a sensitive state, it feels like it is slowly strengthening. I am looking forward to the Rosacea Facial I have booked next week as I haven’t been able to get a facial in months. I believe we may also discuss laser treatments in the future as those are all available within his clinic. It has been such a relief to work with Dr. Arlette and the full team at Total Skin Care and I look forward to the next steps on rebuilding my skin’s health and vitality with their support.”
