“Our Veterans Group did a road trip to the Bearberry Saloon. The saloon is a nice location, virtually out in the middle of nowhere and it was quite busy when we arrived. The staff were friendly but appeared to be overwhelmed with the number of customers vs the number of staff serving them. The saloon was very eclectic. Some of our group waited for over an hour to receive our food orders, we actually waited so long, we prepaid for a meals before they were served to us so that we would not have to wait to pay afterward.”

“It was our first time staying at this campground and definitely not the list! I phoned and the lady was so helpful, informative and overall wonderful. This place has everything you need from full service, a playground, dog park, a store with everything even things I have forgotten in the past that I had to travel far to get. They treat you like family and the campground is very clean and secure. Even train rides for the kid. I highly recommend this place”

“This is a very well run campground. There are parks and horseshoe pits, baseball diamonds, a little stone beach by the river. Free showers and outhouses all over the place to use if you don’t want to make the walk to the flushing toilets. Overall My family and I enjoyed our stay. The spaces are a little too close together and not much for privacy between sites but that's really my only complaint and not a big deal to me. For a privately run campground the staff here are doing a really good job and they take very good care of their site.”

“My children have been attending Pioneer Camp since 2015. Every year they tell me how much fun they had, how awesome their counsellors were, and how they want to go back again... It is the highlight of their summer! Della, who organizes the applications and payments, is extremely warm and accommodating. As a single mom it is hard to manage summer activities, especially when there isn’t an abundance of money left over after the bills are paid. Pioneer Camp has helped me tremendously, by covering the fees, either partially or fully, and I cannot stress enough how much this has meant to us. I adore how they have a policy that economic barriers should not prevent children from attending their camps. Ruth, who manages the camps, is simply amazing. Not only is she an excellent director, she clearly has a huge heart for children. This is made abundantly clear when you arrive at camp, the staff and volunteers are there to make you feel welcome, and wanted, and that you can leave with the knowledge that your children will be well cared for. In all the years, and for children attending, I have never had a bad report, be it about the counsellors, accommodations, and most importantly the food! This is an excellent place to send your children for a week, a win all around, 100%!”
