(January 16, 2023, 3:22 pm)In 1979, I got a job to work on the Extra Gang on the CPR outside of Sparwood B.C. I ended up on the Crowsnest Pass Section Gang. We all hopped on a track speeder loaded with tools and headed up the mountains everyday to maintain the track...usually tie plate replacing. At first, we lived in an old Airstream trailer on the Alberta side...walk over to the only business in Crowsnest, the Summit Hotel...it doesn't look like it's still there anymore, neither does the new portables they built for the new bunkhouse or the CPR station house. In fact, it looks like all the old homes surrounding the station were torn down as well. I suppose nuthin's sacred on this planet.

Would definitely like to stay again.
