My first bar i visited in canada, it was so cool and awesome, service was amazing, staff are very attentive specially the bar tender. Dj play the bit very well. One thing i’de noticed they dont have extreme mix drinks.
I initially didn’t want to go into the Dancing Sasquatch as I’m a bit past my “club” days and much prefer a more chill bar/patio situation. But it was the last night of my bachelorette party and the group wanted something more high energy so we swung by after dinner around 10:30 PM and honestly - I was pleasantly surprised! Granted, I already had incredibly low expectations due to the existing poor reviews but the ambience was pretty great and the place itself was much more clean and modern than I thought it would be.
Yes, there are plenty of young 18-20 year olds but I was fully prepared for that considering the drinking age in Alberta is 18. Honestly, I was more aware of the many other bachelorette and bachelor parties going on. Our group got there right as it was starting to get full so we had plenty of space on the dance floor and had no issues dancing around each other.
Now on to the important parts - drinks and DJ. Some drinks were a bit watered down for sure but, compared to where I’m from (Chicago), they were much cheaper than what I would have to pay in a similar spot so I don’t know if I’d personally call them overpriced. With that said, I did end up going back to the bar more frequently to get a refill until we started getting more “pre-made” drinks like White Claws and canned drinks since it’s kinda hard to water those down. Other than that, the service as pretty quick and friendly enough.
As for the DJ - I have incredibly mixed feelings. Overall, the song selections were great. Plenty of variety to appeal to the masses. But where they struggled was with transitions. It was very weird to hear an absolute banger of rock song - Fat Bottomed Girls - get cut off half way and transitioned to Started from the Bottom. I get the intention but the execution fell flat. This happened many more times throughout the night. Luckily, our group was smashed enough not to care.
Once it started getting pretty late, the music turned a bit more EDM-y and that was our cue to leave.
Great music, atmosphere and crowd. Staff let's you have fun. Know what you're getting into and embrace the experience. Night to remember.
