I had a the bison rib eye for 79$. Was only okay. Nothing amazing. Bison was cooked uneven (half was medium well-done and the other half was rare) and tasted like curry (not in good way). Potatoes are deep fried, the taste of old vegetable oil and overly salted wasn't a good experience. Carrots were borderline undercooked and the asparagus were bitter.
I would say same quality as any casual dinning (earls, moxy) but double the price.
Would not call it fine dinning.
This is a really nice place to eat with an excellent ambience. Set in the trees and great spot to take a date. The menu has a good selection of traditional steak house items with some bison and lamb choices as well. Menu prices are on the high side, in fact, the highest I have seen in Red Deer for any type of cuisine.
We were a group of 9 or so for a business dinner. Everything was just okay. Nobody at the table was super impressed with either the appetizers or mains.
I had the bacon wrapped bison tenderloin which was luke warm, overcooked and expected more from a $70+ plate.
This was my second visit. My first was a date and I recall it being better.
Even though we were the only table in the restaurant at times, maybe the staff was short for dealing with a table of 9 all at once.
Probably give them another shot some day
The Westlake Grill has some of the best food available in Red Deer paired with great service and a warm, relaxing, and romantic atmosphere. We love the local meats and produce on the menu, along with the unique and delicious desserts. (If Yak is on the chef's special, get it!!!)
Very interesting location with beautiful natural habitat all around. Staff are extremely friendly. We went there for Mother’s Day brunch and were the only ones there (during time of covid and right before restaurants were about to close). Our server started a outdoor fire pit for us and we were provided with blankets for the chilly weather. They have hammock chairs to relax in around the restaurant. Food was good. Want to go back there to try the regular items on the menu next time!
We had the best lunch ever today! I had the veg and Brie panini (heavenly) with their homemade chips and my friend had the sliders. Yum! Best service in the world and the patio was set up for good distancing and an amazing view of green space. I got to have a great visit with an old friend in a great setting. Perfect. Thank you!
