This programs and staff are life altering. If you or your family are struggling with mental health and have the opportunity to be involved with CASA...Embrace It! The programming and staff at CASA House helped our FAMILY! The comprehensive approach that looked at all aspects of our lives and our child's life helped us to identify the areas where we were struggling the most and gave us the tools we needed to change. With these tools my child is now better able to deal with her anxiety and depression and I see her smile and hear her laugh! I had almost forgotten what that was like.
As parent we learned and gained new tools so we are now better able to support our child the way she needs to be. We have a better understanding of her struggles and the tools that are helpful to her! There are many aspects to the programming and all have value! The multi-family therapy allowed us to learn with the other families as well as share with and learn from the other families.
I will be forever grateful to the Staff at CASA House in the fall of 2020- spring of 2021. This was our last hope and you blew my expectations out of the water!
It isn't an easy program, so get ready to dig deep and don'y forget why your there! Embrace it! You won't regrett it!

CASA was a huge help for me. I was admitted there in 2017, when I was 15 (I'm 19 now), and spent 4 months working to get better. The staff were super nice and helpful, and the food was delicious. Just after I left, I felt like I had only gotten worse, but after a couple months, I figured out that the reason I felt worse was because I just missed the people. It's not like you walk in, and 4 months later you come out magically better. It takes time and effort. They give you so many tools when you're there, and when you graduate the program, you get a whole book full of coping strategies to help you out in the long run. You can also call them if you need help managing after you graduate the program.

I was 13 almost 14 when I first got sent to casa house (I'll be 21 next month) I have a bit of a troubled past and my mental health has never been great, I was in a really dark place when I went in, I was closed off always fighting an inner battle that I could never win. I was extremely suicidal and was also what they called a flight risk so I was kept under a constant supervisor order, door had to be open at all times someone had to standing outside the bathroom door anytime I went in until I came they walked me to and from every room. I'm not gonna lie it wasnt easy and i fought back ALOT but eventually i came around thanks to 2 specific members of at that time what everyone was calling my personal staff Haha looking back now i can understand why they did it but then i really didnt understand. Noone had even just stopped and actually listened to the things I was saying and if they did they took it the wrong way and just made me feel worse about how I was feeling, like having the thoughts I had and feeling how I did was wrong in someway. The staff at casa house however didnt, they listened, they let me rant and ramble on about exactly what I was feeling and never once made me feel bad about it. Casa house saved my life without the amazing staff and all the help and guidance I got I honestlydont think I'd be here right now, and though my mental health now isnt much better then when I first got sent to casa and the people around me now though different people still react the same way to my feelings and the thoughts I have I've learned over the years it's better to not speak sometimes. Because sometimes if the person your trying to confide in has never had those thoughts or similar feelings then they arent going to understand no matter how you explain it to them. I stopped trying to talk about my inner battles because noone actually listens or understands. But thanks to casa house I know I can do this on my own, because no matter what turmoil today brings the sun is still gonna come up the next day and I'm still gonna crawl out of bed and plaster a smile on and keep pushing through.

Casa House is a very good residential mental health program for teens. They have a supportive environment and friendly staff. The teens receive regular individual therapy as well as group therapy and also attend school within the facility. While it is a big time commitment, the required weekly parent support group meetings are an excellent source of learning and sharing with other parents in similar situations. If the teen and parents are willing to put in the hard work that it takes to learn strategies for dealing with a mental illness, this place changes lives and helps to create healthy families.
