Wolf Lake Airport

Awesome Gem in Alberta to fly into! The runway surface is nice and smooth and is really wide compared to other soft fields I have seen. On a hot day you gotta watch it as you will probably use the whole runway. If you can you're always better off to land from the lake and takeoff towards the lake. Then you're not dealing with the trees which surround the whole field and make it difficult on a hot day to clear an obstacle. (Especially in a 152). Aside from the flying part its a great place to land and stay the day or camp overnight. Lake is super clean and great to swim in! There is a washroom and a fire pit as well. I will for sure be coming back in the summer when its warm!

Flew into Wolf Lake this past Saturday, Oct 26, 2013. The runway is deceiving due to the fact that it's so wide (150') but the 2500' is more than enough for most planes even though the trees at the end of 27 look daunting. The grass was a bit long but makes for a softer landing but not long enough to lengthen your takeoff roll to much.
What a great place to camp or even just spend the day, looking forward to returning.
