One of Victora's best kept secrets
Beautiful small park, quiet and not usually busy. Several open Garry Oak meadows full of wildflowers in Spring, plus trails through the woods in all directions. The trails are mostly easy, with a few moderately steep parts. Suitable for walking only; mostly not usable for those with mobility issues. There are a few slightly muddy spots in wet weather, but nothing impassable. Good for birds, bees, dragonflies, etc.
A very beautiful green space with a special, ancient feel to it. The rocks are scarred by the eons of glacial movements. Moss carpets the ground and rocks, and lichens adorn the ancient oaks like lace. Despite the many walking trails winding throughout this park, there is a very aboriginal feel to it.
I would caution fully-loaded bike tourists that it's not a customary park, unless you're willing to park your bikes and head out for a nice day hike. I entered through a trail tucked into one of the neighbourhoods. After really rough going for about 2 blocks, I realised I needed to turn back. However, I found a much easier entrance on Greig Ave.
Of course, if you're on foot, there are many well worn paths and would be a very enjoyable place to hike or walk your dog, and simply experience nature.
It was so quiet and a lovely way to connect with nature... During the spring all the flowers bloom and I highly recommend you go here if you are in the Brentwood Bay area
