“We used to get takeaway from here quite regularly. Very nice website, it was very nice food. Now Sooke has a local Indian restaurant we love so we don’t go here anymore in the last year. Five Spice is a little takeaway spot inside a convenience store in Happy Valley and it was such a gem of a find when we moved to Sooke from up island. We were in the neighborhood last Saturday night and decided to call in an order. We get there, the guy at the counter told me that it’ll be 2 minutes. Finally we get our order 15 minutes later after multiple people come to pick theirs up, very busy night. We ordered the Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken, lamb biryani with a couple of naans and sides of plain rice as well as coconut rice. The paneer dish was great, spice level spot on. The other dishes that were our usual picks were unfortunately not great. The butter chicken lacked its depth of flavour and the biryani was a tad dry, flavours were there but it was as if the volume was turned way down. Lamb itself was decent but biryani is usually a bit more moist and comes with a side of raita but tonight it didn’t. The coconut rice was interesting, not sure if that’s their own version but it had fried bits of the coconut cream which lent a toasty flavour but left the rice quite oily. And then the naans. Oh dear, it was nothing like we’ve had before when the naan is sort of light and bubbly almost. It was the opposite. The naan were like flat bread. Thick and heavy. I’m thinking since it was very close to closing time on a Saturday they were just super busy and were pumping out so much food that the quality suffered a bit.”

“Overall a decent Thai place. Besides the keen service from waitresses nothing stood out. After we are seated we ask for hot water so our waitress went to fetch it. Then perhaps another waitress saw that we aren’t given water so she poured us standard two glasses of water with ice. I’d say there’s miscommunication there. Other then that, their pleasant attitude and service are nice. My order of a lunch special for minced beef with basil and rice is alright. The minced beef is slightly spicy (the menu and waitress have mentioned it) with basil leaves. But I do find the beef on the salty side. The soup that came with includes plenty of chopped celery and carrot. The vegetables have cooked well with the liquid. And the spring roll is wrapped with vermicelli. This restaurant seems to be a popular lunch spot for business workers. Not only is there’s a bar and tables could be put together to accommodate larger groups.”

“I love Rhino Coffee house in Langford! They have a nice selection of drinks to order as well as lots of different food options. I highly recommend the breakfast bagels! The donuts are also really nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and tables to sit at if you’d like to stay a h while and do some work or just relax. The staff here is helpful, funny, welcoming, and make it a great experience.”

“Very nice renovation from what used to be here. The views from the lounge are great, year round, and invite the guests to the restaurant. The service was friendly, quick, and very professional. During my two dining experiences, I had 2 to 3 different staff come by several times to check on things or otherwise assist. It's clear it's more than just one server dealing with you. The food, was very good! I got their Wagyu Steak Surf and Turf special. It was a true Australian Wagyu as advertised, and tasted delicious. It was probably the most expensive item on their menu, but I felt it's still one of the best values for Wagyu steak available in BC. Steak was done properly to medium rare as requested. The shrimp were one of the best shrimp I've had anywhere. It could be that they were sitting in the Wagyu fat, but whatever it was, I enjoyed them just as much as the steak. I came a second time for Happy Hour and their fish and chips was a nice option too. Their fries are really nicely done. Thick, crisp, but have a nice soft centre. Calamari was decent, but had better elsewhere. I will admit, that although the food is very tasty, fresh, and otherwise perfect, the portions are smaller than most restaurants. I generally have an average appetite, but both meals left me feeling hungry for more, where I'm usually satisfied after my meals elsewhere. I was staying at the hotel for work, so they gave a 20% off voucher for the restaurant. With that, it made the meal much more reasonable, but I would have been content paying full price if I were coming here another time. Edit: The photo of the Wagyu Surf and Turf shows fries which I had substituted instead of the mashed potatoes.”

“Good selection of products, and bulk barn is one of my favourite bulk chains, however the staff here is by far the worst I’ve encountered. Went in for a shopping trip yesterday and had no help finding products, two female employees were just standing at the till gossiping about coworkers and their manager which put me off quite a bit, and they didn’t stop even as we went to check out. Had to walk away without knowing if they had some of my favourite shelf staples in stock”

“I had a excellent experience at Floyd’s Diner. They are very local, I can tell 100% people are live around the area and spend time here. The food there were awesome, the portions were huge, both of us couldn’t finish. I love the way they describe their food on the menu. And they have tons of different mug, and you can see your coffees are served in different mugs which is really a fresh and funny experience. Also they stamped their logo on our hand, it was so unique. The environment was great, they checked Covid passport, they sanitized the tables and every area, and people can have a decent distance between tables. I am pretty sure I will come back again and try other dishes on the menu!”

“It was easy for me to rate based on this single visit; the flavors tasted there (they didn't get too stingy with seasoning), not too salty for me, it was a good first visit. It was pretty straight forward to order, it was nice to see extra hot sauce available (on a side-counter) without having to ask for it. We ordered a taquito meal, quesadilla, some fish tacos, and an enchilada(I think, sorry I forgot). We were all satisfied with our meal, and for the price, it was worth it. You know when you order food and thought it could have been better quality for the price? I personally didn't feel that way, I was satisfied. The decor gave an immersive experience, right down to the tablecloth. Lastly, we had a Mexican student come along with us, and she approved. I take that as a good sign!”

“I really love going to Bin 4. The food has always been exceptionally fresh, I like that they do feature burgers drinks desserts and appetizers every month. It's always nice when you can get a good deal on a meal so if you go after 9:00 p.m. all burgers are on sale. I'm usually visiting the restaurant minimally once a month to try out the feature Burger. It's definitely a place worth getting your name on the list at 8:45 p.m. so you can have a 9:00 p.m. table at a special evening rate. I like to say thanks to all the staff for such great service and to Dan for an opening up such a great chain that he has started and is now traveling across BC.”

“Tucked in a corner of a small mall in Goldstream, this shop/deli/food bar is worth the search. An very good array of Mexican groceries and a selection of great tasting take-away food. There are a few tables in the shop if you just can't wait. The owner is very pleasant and helpful, even attempting to assist me with my atrocious attempt at Mexican language. His suggestions were taken to heart and we enjoyed an excellent repas. Ice cream is available however, it appears that it may have been sitting there for awhile as we were just coming out of winter. You will enjoy exploring this store, it is an adventure on it's own.”

“We keep on passing this restaurant many times during the many trips to sites and lunches etc. So we had to try it. The sign on the building said buffet restaurant, but it wasn't. Maybe it's because of the pandemic they cut this out. So, we asked about the buffet with we don't do it. Same with the next and next and so on people coming in. We almost walked out but lucky we decided to stay. We picked a number of items that looked good to us, which included hot and sour soup. We didn't realize that they served all items at once. We were disappointed at this. When we said something about this, they said that people like being served all at once. We suggestion is order your soup. Then order what you want next. This way you can eat the way you want. Or all at once, if that's the way you like it. We ended up taking the soup home with us for a later time. Plus some of the leftovers. Maybe tomorrow's lunch? Enjoy this wonderful tasting hot fresh food, too!”
