“Nice setting to the lodges with a great view if you’re lucky enough to be at the front. Clean rooms with comfy beds (only 1 flat pillows each) however as numerous comments have said before no point in having a TV in the room as they don’t work unless you have Netflix! The kitchen is laughable, the bowls were the smallest I’ve ever seen, no teaspoons, if we to use the microwave there was no dish to use in it! A room that sleeps 4 has a table but no chairs to sit on just 2 small benches that were placed as bed side tables. Not a massive deal but the weather was nice so would of been nice to have more that just 2 chairs outside for people to use.”

“We stayed 3 nights at the Hiker Hilton Hut, after our Tofino plans fell apart due to the highway 4 closure. It was a great alternative for us, and we really enjoyed our stay overall.”

“Port Renfrew is one of my favorite places on the island and it is a great package of landscapes, sceneries, mountains, lakes, oceans, and big trees. The visitor information center offers detailed information about the whole region and most importantly WI-FI and washroom facilities. The staff is great and friendly. I would highly recommend stopping by the information center to learn and explore about the region.”

“Matt was a great guide and storyteller. We learned a lot about the wild life along the way and the experience is fantastic overall. I really appreciate all the work that goes into protecting the whales. We should all do our part to respect their habitats. The boat gets rocky when it’s shut off so you might feel seasick for a while even on land afterwards.”

“I knew our stay here was going to be superb, but they still managed to surpass my expectations! Every part of this experience was simple and smooth. Plus, the view from our cottage was unbeatable! Can't wait to come back here”

“A great little collection of Cottages right next to the water! Modern, clean and well equipped. The only reason this is a 3* review is that the cottage we stayed in wasn’t ideal. We stayed in cottage 7 which is unfortunately right on the Boardwalk, or Wharf. Whilst this is advertised in the listing and even the name of the room type, what’s not made clear is that the wharf is used constantly from 5am to about 9-10pm by fishermen and the public. We had cars driving a couple of feet from our windows starting at 5am, wheels on the boardwalk make lots of noise! On top of this the general public walk past a few feet from your patio and can see straight into the rooms. Privacy is a no no in this cabin! It was nice to chat to some that walked past as we sat enjoying the view, but it was constant and busy! The view from them is still stunning and partially made up for it, but it was still a serious issue. One that should be reflected in the prices. We still paid almost $400 a night. Even with all the above, we plan to return and book into the Oceanside cottages. These seemed much more private and offered a better view! Come and stay here….Just ensure if you like peace and quiet with a dash of privacy , don’t stay in the wharf side cabins.”

“Food is good, tasty and hot! Just improve more courtesy while accomodating guest. Travelling approximately 2 hours, just to find a great experience should be considered. For people who wants to have a great food experience i must say this place is close to perfection. The service can be improve.. but the food is superb”

“The Creekside (Cottonwood) cottage is spacious and bright. Very comfortable. As there is little to do in the evenings it would be nice to have a better cable package. Very quiet at night, but construction behind the property made it unbearable to be there in the daytime, and management did not respond to my concerns about the noise. Hopefully that construction will be over soon. Bring a portable grill and plenty of your own groceries, as many businesses in town are closed because of staffing issues and the local store has almost nothing. Also bring your own utensils and cooking surface as the cottage does not have this. Although the cottage does not have a view it is super close to the wharf and the pub. We took our chairs out to the roadside to chat with whoever happened to be there and just watch people. Overall a nice stay, but I'd book the cottages by the wharf next time.”

“The tour was amazing -- Matt was always fully informative, always giving information and knowledge ..you never felt rushed or out of the loop of what was going on. Port Renfrew is absolutely a must see, and the whale watching just made it that much more special! I'm super excited to say I did this and can't wait to visit again !”

“Sarah has such good taste! The clothing is such good quality. The boutique itself is adorable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out on your next visit to Port Renfrew. But be warned - you'll want to buy it all! I have purchased two complete outfits and a couple extra sweaters; it's such a fun experience shopping there that you'll want to go back again and again!”

“Our family of six had a comfortable stay at Botanical Getaway. It's walking distance to the bustling pub but also feels very private overlooking a grassy slope down to some berry bushes where we saw deer. There's a fire pit and the night sky is gorgeous on a clear night since there's virtually no light pollution in the area. The beach at the end of the trail is worth exploring at low tide, as there are caves, including one that travels through to another beach. The trail down there is a little overgrown, and steep at the end, but not bad at all. The washing machine at the house is wonderfully huge and works very well. Everything was clean, and there's ample parking. All the amenities are good. Finally, I appreciated the hospitality of Maria and Peter. Peter's family has owned the property since 1932. Thank you so much, I would love to come back and get to know the Port Renfrew area better.”

“Great staff and nice clean spacious lodges. The fish processing services are top notch, and worth every penny. They also provided a large pot to cook our crabs. I'll definitely be coming back”

“We stayed in the lodge (the motel-type building up the hill) and it didn't look like much from the outside, but the room was beautifully updated, the bathroom was spacious and the bed was a dream. Check-in was easy and convenient, with keys in an envelope in a mailbox on the guest services building. Wifi is verrrryyy slow, but totally acceptable considering how rural it is. Plus, IMO there's no need to be on the internet in the gorgeous "wild Renfrew" wilderness and when Botanical Beach is so close! Being a tea drinker, I really appreciated the kettle and the variety of tea in the room! A couple things I would improve on would be the cleanliness of the floor and the amenities of the kitchenette. It would have been nice to have some paper towels, some more dishes, a strainer, utensils, pots/pans and a burner/hot plate. It seemed strange to us that there was a range hood but nothing to cook on. The bathroom also had a musty, sewage-y smell. Overall, would stay here again!”

“The veggie wrap I had this morning was fantastic. Nice light and healthy, yet filling meal to start the day. Was amazed with how fast the service was. Warm and welcoming staff and a super cozy coastal atmosphere. I highly recommend this as a quick stop in the morning to fuel up before your adventures.”

“It's a nice quiet place but slightly over priced for what you get.... we slept in cabin #84. The cutlery, pots n pans & other utensils were all unmatched, stained & super difficult to clean (the frying pans were unusable). The bed was really uncomfortable as well. I'm not a picky person but I do hope for a comfy bed and pans that are usable. There's no view but the deck was fenced and fantastic with fire pit & BBQ. I wish there was a walk way down to a beach there as well. We would stay again and give it another chance but not in cabin #84. The fenced deck was great for the dogs and nice not to pay extra for them like most places. Cleaning fee was a bit ridiculous considering the place wasn't clean really at all, which I mean was fine for us but might not be for others. Cob webs on walls & ceilings, both mats were dirty and gross (but maybe because it was pet friendly?) We rolled the mats up and didn't use them as I didn't want the kids bare feet on such a dirty floor mat in livingroom. Also the tub didn't drain until the next day after a 10 min shower. I love port Renfrew and I'm 29 weeks pregnant so I wasn't about to go camping. The cabin was a good alternative and was quite private & peaceful.”
