Nathan is an exceptional tutor who takes the time to explain the vast concepts in calculus and provides examples for each section to further build upon their understanding. Along with the examples, he provides a thorough answer key that explains all the steps and processes clearly for anyone to understand.
I've always struggled with learning math and would find myself spending upwards of an hour struggling to understand the concepts with a new question. I had tried tutoring in the past but found it didn't help much. Nathan from the Rising Stars really helped me to learn new concepts in just 15 minutes, he explains in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. I had been struggling with my university precalculus classes for a while but I recently scored 80% on my most recent midterm with only a few sessions help. I'd highly recommend Nathan for a university level tutor, plus he gave me free coffee for the session.
really good tutoring! he's very accommodating and understanding as well as being good at thoroughly explaining concepts. he has a great teaching style; he breaks down problems and gives you the steps to make the problem easier while also letting you work through them on your own. would definitely recommend, especially for calculus!
Great tutor! Super easy to get a hold of with a flexible schedule. Great teacher and very good at explaining things; this guy knows what he’s doing! Great experience and I would recommend!
Nathan from Rising Stars Tutoring is an amazing tutor that made Math 109 (Calculus 1) at UVic actually make sense. I wish I had found out about him at the beginning of the term because I started off the course feeling lost but thought I’d I just keep pushing through and it would all come together; but my mistakes at the beginning of the course just snowballed (even though I went to office hours and math/stats tutoring) and had a negative impact on my grade up until my first session with Nathan. He is completely professional (follows up with communication, never once was I ghosted by this company but I was by another tutor, he was punctual, prepared, kind, nonjudgmental and moved at my pace), was flexible with scheduling, and worth every cent. He went above and beyond supplying me with worksheets that focused specifically on each of the skills taught in my math class and went through them with me to identify specific weaknesses and correct them. I could send him a photo of the math problem I had an issue with the night before our session and the next day, he would help me understand it -not just solve it. Due to my poor grade prior to Nathan’s help, I might have to take the course again so in hindsight, getting his help on a regular basis from the beginning would have been cheaper than repaying for the course plus the cost of delaying my degree end date. Plus, I live in Sooke with kids so my schedule can change and he can accommodate it by switching to an online session.
Getting help from my prof was like asking a genius to dumb it down for me over and over, it gave me crazy anxiety and created unnecessary barriers. Nathan is so chill and never made me feel dumb or anxious, do yourself a favour and give him a shot -1st year Calc can be tough for a lot of people but good help is right here!
