“My husband and I live on the mainland and every time we visit family we go to Chon Tong. The food is delicious, definitely the best Thai restaurant in Sidney, and the service is great. We have eaten almost everything on the menu and there is nothing we wouldn't order again. My favourites are tom yum goong soup, ginger beef and crispy duck.”

“One word.. . PHENOMENAL!! Had the all you can eat... big meaty pieces of cod, delicately battered, served piping hot with freshly made chips and delicious coleslaw. Must recommend getting there early for dessert... only one item to choose.... the melva... too good to believe... they sell out! Ooh, must try their chowder, rich, old fashioned so good. Anytime we're in Sidney, we'll be making plans to eat here. The staff are friendly and accommodating.”

“To be clear, I'm giving this 4 stars with the understanding that we all know what to expect from a low price food chain. This is not a "this is the best pizza I've ever had" kind of review. This is to hopefully boost their abysmal rating a little, because 2.9 isn't an accurate depiction of the service and value I've received here. We've ordered by phone and desktop site and mobile app. All have gone uneventfully without issue. The pizza is great value. At the time of writing, they have a promotion for Medium 2-topping pizzas for $7.99 each (can buy two at this price, then goes up a buck for all others). This is around a dollar a slice--solid value. Is it as good as Mariners? Hell no. But I can order it when we have buddies over and I want to save money. If you want to get full on decent pizza for as little as possible, you won't go wrong.”

“A very cool shrine to the 80 year history of the cafe and Airmen that have enjoyed a drink or a meal over the years. Staff is very efficient and helpful and the food is fantastic. Lots of seafood items and some great British pub items such as hot pot, bangers and mash, steak and mushroom pie, liver and onions and of course cod and chips. Great daily specials on food and drink.and even a couple of decent craft beer choices. Did I mention the great service? I have been meaning to stop by for years and now have a lot of catching up to do. Another great place to stop if your headed to the Airport or the ferry”

“The locals said this was the spot a d they were right! We just took a night tied up at the marina while sailing through the area and stumbled into the surly mermaid. The decor was amazing on many levels, from sticking with the mermaid theme to being modern and clean this establishment is suited for salty bearded sailors like myself as well as my conservative elderly father who is in his mid 60's. The staff were friendly and the service was great. The food was amazing as well. I don't think I will bother to venture past this place in search of delicious eats next time I visit Sydney. Thanks to all the wonderful staff from the service to the kitchen everything here was on point! Hope to see you guys again soon! 2 salty sailors + 1 senior approved!”

“Great little place that over looks the ocean. The halibut we had tasted a little funky in some parts of it. But the rest of the food we had was really good. Service was okay. But I’m not sure if it was potentially a lack of staff and our server was just too busy. I would need to go again to decide if I really enjoyed the restaurant or not.”

“The hamburger paddy was done perfectly with just a hint/tint of pink. The paddy stayed together, the catsup appeared homemade, a kinda puree. The bacon had a smoky bacon flavor, similar to the gourmet double smoked bacon (not that plastic packaged stuff, they call bacon these days). The cheese was nicely melted over the paddy. Tomato and lettuce fresh. The bun was soft and didn't turn into a soggy mess . The pickle rounding out the whole thing. All in all, a good burger”

“Cute place in a great location. Wonderful views of the Waterfront. As my friend and I were not overly hungry we decided to share a seafood sandwich which was huge with a lot of tasty fries. Just perfect to fit our hunger pangs. Our waitress was delightful and will certainly return again.”
