This place is really well rated and we had high expectations. The property has a terrific location if you want to discover the city on foot, rooms are generally clean and come well equipped, especially their kitchenettes, and the price is unbeatable. I just wish they went the extra mile as far as cleanliness is concerned. Our HVAC unit had layers of dust on it and the shower curtain had mildew stains and a mildewy smell (see photos). This tells me the room is not as clean as it looks. I also wish their reception staff were warmer and communicated better: the man who was there when we checked in looked like he didn't want to be there and did not acknowledge our previous request for a quiet room. In fact we were assigned one of the noisiest rooms in the complex, one that fronts the Douglas / Superior intersection. They have laundry facilities for guests ($3 each for wash / dry but only one machine), and parking is cheap at $10 a day. All in all, a decent stay for the money.
Excellent location. The most beautiful inn I've stayed. The room is bright with big windows on 2 sides, looking to a quiet corner. Room is fully equipped with modern designed kitchen. Bathroom is so lovely with huge, white windows. Everything is just perfect, wish to have more time to extend our stay
Don't fall for how it looks from outside. The staff was good. The rooms were nice and cozy. Above all clean! Not modern but well equipped and has cozy feel. If you are on 1st floor you get a cozy patio. Above all the, location is great. Not too downtown but not far from all the.main attraction. Will highly recommend
Booked this stay due to great value. Location is great as it’s close to the harbour and beacon hill. The room is great for the price, clean and well decorated. Enjoyed having a 50 inch tv to relax in the evening . Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The only complaint I have is that the hotel charges 10$ per day for parking separate from the booking.
We ended up staying two separate nights at the Helm's Inn during our trip to Victoria, the second night because we liked it so much the first time! A remodeled older style inn, which was much nicer than staying in a franchise chain. The rooms are large with new decor, and have nice features with full kitchenettes. The front desk staff were extremely nice on all occasions, we were helped the most by Sergio. If you have accessibility issues, be mindful to ask for a ground floor, as there are no elevators on the premise.
