Loved my time at Sprott Shaw College in Kelowna. I was apprehensive about returning to the classroom after being gone for so long, but found the students of all ages to be very supportive of each other. The instructors/staff worked to see that everyone succeeded and planned several special events to keep things fun.
Sprott Shaw is such an amazing school. The staff are always so warm and welcoming and the instructors always strive to help you succeed in any way they can. All of the Staff and fellow students I met at Sprott Shaw have become a second family and the relationships and memories built here will last a life time! I couldn’t imagine having gone to any other college or feeling more prepared to enter my field. Thank you, Sprott Shaw! If I ever decide to go back to school, you’ll be my first stop!
I came to Sprott Shaw College expecting a great education which I did receive beyond expectations, but not the relationships that would come with it. I quickly found a campus full of wonderful people who want to see you succeed and want to help you in any way they can.
More importantly, the Legal Administration Diploma course prepared me for my job I managed to secure and move myself to Penticton with just before the end of my studies. While we can talk about education and earnings all we want, the relationships built will last far past my 10 months here and will be what I hold closest. Sprott Shaw College has changed my life incredibly and I will forever remember my time here. – Gabi Phillips
Attending classes at Sprott Shaw College was a very positive experience for me.
The instructors I had, including the occasional substitute, were generally well prepared, very approachable, and interested in mine and my fellow student’s success.
I appreciated the smaller class sizes and the interaction with other students and the instructors.
I also enjoyed all of the other events and activities on top of the classes. All of this helped to bring a feeling of a close group, having fun, and of course learning new skills.
The saying, “The more you put into it, the more you get out of it” is very applicable here.
The only thing I didn’t like was the pace. Some courses come at you at machine gun rapid fire
The staff are energetic and enthusiastic. They do their best for the students and really care about their success.
Be aware; for profit school is different from going to a public college. Advantage: My 2-year bookkeeping course only took 8 months and included business humanities courses. A definite time saving. It was well rounded. The teachers are well versed in the course material and very responsive.
However, there was little time for beer gardens and life. Typically, a 3-month course was taught in 2-3 weeks. You spend ALL your time on school work. Very intense.
The job search courses and counseling are particularly good. Joanne Funk is dedicated to finding job success for every student. She gave me leads for half of my current bookkeeping clients.
