Roofers were tough to find after Covid and, even after an excellent referral from a neighbour whose roof I’d watched them replace, it took me a year of phone calls and even a written application to Harder Roofing’s website before a personal contact finally put me in touch with Max the owner. He was very apologetic about the lack of response but was up on my shake roof within the hour confirming that it did seriously need replacing and he could probably get to it in two months, and had an estimate to me that same evening for a shingle conversion which I was happy to accept with a couple of minor add-ons. Their start-up slipped two weeks but that was no problem because the weather held and they worked a really full week with a 2 or 3 man crew most days and I think did a great job. The tear-off was tough even using tarps because we have a lot of greenery close around the house which took a bit of a beating but the shingle finish looks excellent with lots of extra soffit and roof ventilation and the cleanup was immaculate. So this satisfied customer is more than happy to say “if at first you don’t succeed, try Harder!”.

My wife and I selected Harder Roofing in the summer of 2023 to reroof our single story home in Campbell River following considerable due diligence and specifically seeking out references in this area. Our project started when scheduled and was larger than most at nearly 9000 sq. ft. as it included an exterior gazebo and yard shed and replacement of all exterior skylights (13). We chose a premium Malarkey architectural shingle product and are absolutely delighted with the finished product. We have received many neighborhood compliments since. The roofing took nearly 2-1/2 weeks (as I expected), not including skylight replacement. Max Harder's crew members were on time, polite and diligent. Max was prompt in the early estimating phase and communication was excellent throughout the actual reroofing. When so many contractors are less than reliable these days, we have no reservations in recommending Harder Roofing to others needing quality, timely (and IMO) reasonable roofing services.

Max and his team installed a new roof for us in February 2023. They were great to work with. Max responded to a roof estimate within a day of our request. They did an excellent job, cleaned up thoroughly, and charged exactly what the estimate was. We would highly recommend them to anyone.
