My family for generations grew up around here and worked here decades ago. Family property surrounds Fanny Bay Oysters known as some of the best Oysters around the world. All from a little piece of paradise.
We went here instead of Mac's Oysters because Mac's wasn't selling shelled oysters due to the warm weather, but my family prefers them inside their shells. The oysters tasted pretty good and were relatively cheap, but the mussels stole the show! They were honestly the best mussels we have ever tasted. I don't know if their special Kusshi oysters were worth their price ($11.95/dozen), but they were definitely something different. The nice salespeople provided good advice and lots of free ice. The actual store is located under the gas station/Subway by the Buckley Bay/Denman terminal. They do accept debit and credit unlike Mac's which is cash only.
OK, we followed the advice of the prior reviewer and went to that address. This is the Fanny Bay Inn and not the retail store. The server at the Inn directed us to the store. While I don't have an address, it's easy to find. Stay on the same road (19A) heading north for a mile or two and look on the right for a Petro Canada gas station next to the ferry. The Fanny Bay retail store sits behind the gas station right next to the ferry dock.
It's well worth the journey. The prices are inexpensive for some of the best oysters you can enjoy. And when we went, it was spot prawn season and they had lots of them for sale, too. Many smoked salmon choices as well.
