Vinoteca on Vineyard

Address: 5039 Marshall Rd, Cowichan Valley E, BC V9L 5L1, Canada

Restaurant

“not sure if it was worth the drive. The setting and venue was nice but in general the place was a bit dirty and not really tended to. The wine selection was quite limited and none of the dishes really stood out unfortunately. Would give it a try if you're nearby but not worth the trip out.”

Deerholme Farm

Address: 4830 Stelfox Rd, Duncan, BC V9L 6S9, Canada

Restaurant

“We had a great time during the mushroom foraging workshop at Deerholme farm. Bill is very knowledgeable and we learned quite a lot. We had a chance to go for a walk in the woods where Bill showed us how to apply our newly acquired knowledge. He also shared some tips for cooking with mushrooms and made us some delicious meals. As an experienced cook, I didn’t learn much during the cooking class, but it was still a fun culinary experience.”

Yummeez Grill

Address: 3031 Allenby Rd, Duncan, BC V9L 6R2, Canada

Restaurant

“Absolutely crazy-good food. Our crew got three burgers and three pan-fried potato sides, all for under $30 - best decision we made all week. The burgers are juicy and packed with fillings. The potatoes are fried to perfection. If you want amazing food and amazing prices in a convenient location, you gotta eat at Yummeez Grill.”

“Delicious food, friendly staff. Would definitely eat here again the next time I pass through Duncan. Not 5 star due to limited menu and extremely high juice prices.”

Vancouver Island Event Catering

Address: 2898 Boys Rd, Duncan, BC V9L 6X3, Canada

Cafe Restaurant Store

“I had a mixed experience with Vancouver Island Event Catering. I ordered both food and equipment rentals (tables, chairs, etc) for my wedding in December. I was organizing the wedding myself, so I wanted to keep it as simple as possible - get everything delivered the day before so that I would not have to deal with it the day of the wedding. Azam was very enthusiastic and I can tell that he put great importance on the quality of the food and service that they provided. I booked them in advance, but he accommodated my last-minute additions as well. Despite the incredibly busy month, he added items on as late as two days before the wedding. They did a great job with the food - it was delicious and everyone loved it. When it came to the actual event, though, they really dropped the ball. He agreed right at the beginning to deliver all of the equipment the day before, but the tables, wine glasses, and water glasses were not delivered. On top of all the preparations I was already doing, I had to contact Azam about the missing items - all of which were crucial for the wedding. It was extremely stressful. We also only received one carafe, when I had asked for three. At the time I thought that they would bring the other two the next day. I had ordered the third one last-minute so that I could make apple cider, so perhaps there was a slight delay. Not a big deal. To his credit, Azam personally made sure that the tables and glasses were delivered the next morning, which I did appreciate, but now everything had to be set up last-minute, and it was incredibly stressful. Then, on the day of the wedding, we still only had one carafe. Since I had ordered both coffee and tea to serve, I was frustrated that I could not serve something that I was paying for. Instead of spending time with my guests, I had to run around trying to figure out a solution. They also had not brought enough coffee mugs, so not all the guests were able to have coffee - again, something I would be paying for. No one got tea. There was also miscommunication when in the end they asked for payment in the form of a cheque. We had been told well in advance that we could pay by card, but they didn’t have a card machine with them and needed to send someone out to pick one up. I know it was a busy month, but if they had trouble keeping my order organized and had trouble delivering, I would rather they had not accepted it in the first place. I was relying on them to provide me with what I needed and paid for, and I was left to flounder. Despite all of the missed items and delays and errors on a contract that we had both agreed to weeks before, I was not contacted with any kind of apology. It was quite disappointing.”
