I can honestly say that choosing to send my three kids to this school has been one of the best decisions of my life. I initially sent them to St. Mary’s because it’s the #1 academic school in Cranbrook. And it doesn’t disappoint in that regard. My kids began learning French, music, Outdoor Education and computers in Kindergarten. I wanted my kids to learn from an early age the importance of education, and of the satisfaction of working hard to learn something. Unlike so many schools in the public system, St. Mary’s takes academia seriously. I also appreciate that it teaches good, moral values. Whether you are raising your child(ren) in a religious home or not, I think everyone can agree that teachings kids the basic Golden Rule of “doing unto other as you would have done to you” provides a wonderful foundation and moral standard. And that’s really what sets St. Mary’s apart from any other school in Cranbrook - it feels different. Warmer, kinder and close-knit. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how loving and patient the teachers are. Plus, my kids love the outdoor education program. From shelter building to snow-shoeing, our kids get to do it all. I know a lot of parents think “it’s just elementary school - what’s the big deal?” But these early academic years are critical and set our children up for the future. And so I really wanted to provide my kids with an loving environment that would challenge them academically while nurturing them emotionally. And I am so pleased that that is exactly the experience we’ve had.
