Very good camping sites. Beautiful views! My kids were enjoying watching turtles.

Family oriented campground with access to lake and beach. Lots of mature trees for shade but few shrubs, so privacy is somewhat lacking. Well maintained roadways and pads in variety of sizes, suitable for small vehicles and tents as well as larger trailers. Despite the bustle of activity during the day (including kids racing around on bikes and parents pushing baby strollers) it quiets down nicely at night for a peaceful sleep. A certain amount of sites are reservable with a some first come first serve available. Wheelchair accessible pit toilets, but no sink. Running water available from pipes near garbage and recycling bins. Overall a good place if you're looking for more of a family/friend outdoor experience, but don't expect anything close to remote wilderness. Dogs are fine at campground (on leash) but are not allowed on beach.

Been coming here since 84 with my family and i still come. Brings many great memories. The only downfalls is its become very hard for locals to get a spot here. It would be nice to see them do a first come basis on half the campground. The new notification if a campsite becomes available is a great tool for now.
Not sure if they still do sandcastle competitions or if they have anything at the amphitheater but that was always a favorite as a kid in the 80s.

What a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the lake, trees and turtles. Rent a paddle boat or kayak and enjoy the lake.

There's also a playground for the littles to enjoy.

More than just the lakes! Perhaps most people visit this park either to lounge on the beach and in the water of Surveyors Lake or to boat in Koocanusa Lake but it's much more than that. The park has three general use campgrounds, one group site and a day use area, all connected by a series of trails suitable for walking and cycling. The trails lead through grassland and open forest (see the signs about the forest and grassland restoration program) all rich in plants, flowers, birds (including eagles) and other wildlife. The geology is fascinating with moraines, kettle holes and river bed deposits and there is cultural evidence of past railways (see if you can find the lingering marks of the railway ties in places under the current trail bed). All this in a warm, dry climate.
