Fort Steele only opens entirely in July, so there were still many things closed (such as the train and theatre) when we went at the end of May. No the less, it was well worth the price of admission.

Beautiful little spot to stop with your little ones or anyone super keen on the old wild west. Amazing learning opportunity for people to learn a lot of history about kootneys, and it's gold mining days.
The folks are amazingly sweet, and even when it's not in full blown season(summer), there's still so much to see and enjoy.
There's horses, and a whole lot of other wildlife around to see as well while walking the paths. Their gift shop is quite cute and has many little trinkets and gifts to bring home. I cannot wait to come back and explore a bit more during the summer, and I hope you all continue making this piece of history officially outstanding and just overall enthralling to enjoy and see.

If you really like museums and walking, this is literally a perfect place to be.

Great little area we went in April, so admission was by donation. Not many of the buildings were open this early but still worth the walk. They are dog friendly.

This place lies on the east shore of the East Kootenay River Between the Mouth the St. Mary River and Wild Horse 🐎 River.
I had a lot of fun and insights about how things were from as far as 100 years ago.

Firstly, the horse ride in the wagon was awesome 😎, I saw in the the museum old clothes made my tailors and some tools ⚒️ 🧰 for technical and vocational use.

Secondly, The bakery which is also know as “City Bakery-Confectionery was built in 1922 it’s Proprietor called Mrs. Underhill I learnt was still in operation, and she bakes one of the best pastries 🥮,I had a bite when I bought a blueberry 🫐 muffin and a cookie 🍪 at the cafeteria.it was really good,if you want to learn how to bake I’m told she trains people who are interested in baking, for more enquiries on that call the number on their website or ask from the building.
Furthermore, The Perry Creek Water wheel 🛞 was amazingly beautiful 🤩 to see, the wheel was very huge, right after that I walked past the gold mine, I saw the equipment used to wash the gold.
One of the things that fascinated me was the fact that they used to sell candies in the drug store 🏬,I couldn’t believe my eyes but there it was sitting right there in the bottles, I walked the hall downstairs where shows used to be held , right ahead of me I saw a little garden 🪴 with a poultry farm, fowls looked really healthy, there were spring onions 🧅 were really big , I immediately thought of making a salad just at the sight it.
Lastly I saw those old Churches ⛪️ one was an Anglican Church, it was really cute , I think the green and cream was a good combination.
I love how I got to know and see for myself how things were in operation from from centuries ago.

It's a great place for all ages. Wear decent shoes to walk in as, if you visit the whole site, it'll take you around 2-3 hrs. There was only a little café at the entrance when we went but it looked like another larger cafe was going to open up later in the month (we went in early June). Loads to see and do. Only 4 stars because we felt that the guide book needs a map of the exhibits, which in turn need to be numbered so you know where and what you're looking at. Great taco's as well! Thanks to the staff for a lovely day.
