Zahra, Manijeh and Joanna are all fabulous midwives. They are patient, kind, personable, experienced and knowledgeable. Just the kind of support you want on your pregnancy and birth journey.

Zahra was the midwife that attended my birth. She and her experienced practicum student Vanessa (and mom) were with me the whole way and were both amazing! They were exceptionally patient, and I never felt rushed to make a decision. I felt the most sense of control over my body possible given the circumstances. Zahra even took 17 photos of my baby's delivery - a priceless keepsake I would not have if she were not there.

If you torn between seeing an OB and a midwife, definitely see a midwife!

I Highly recommend New Horizon Midwifery—As first time parents we weren’t sure what to expect and we had so many questions.You can tell the team (Manijeh ,Zahra, and Johanna ) all have so many years of experience and I love the fact they were so open minded- never did I feel any judgement with any of my choices nor rushed. I recall at one point I needed blood work to check for obstetric cholestasis and I was so anxious to find out my results (luckily everything was fine ) The team went above and beyond to let me know the results . I couldn’t stop worrying the whole day. As soon as they had received the results they message me right away- calling me not once but twice, leaving voice message ,text and email to make sure I get the message and to put my mind at ease .
From my early labor contractions to the end was a total of 68 hours. It was a very long difficult labor and it resulted in Cesarean surgery as my daughter heart rate was rising. Zahara was the on call midwife . She was there making sure baby and I were good every step of the way- including the surgery room and after surgery.
After birth -During the home visit Manijeh even took the time to call in for a prescription so we wouldn’t have to make two trips down.
From my smooth pregnancy to my unexpected hectic,long painful labor to the after care we received . I don’t think I can put into words how grateful we are .I definitely felt all the care and love . I can tell they made sure we were on the right track as new parents before saying our goodbyes .Thank you New Horizon Midwifery and Burnaby Midwifery Care for taking care of my family.
Side note*** it’s also great to know that I am able to see a midwife in future for all my appointments even if I decide to have another C- section.

The best decision was to go with a midwife for my first pregnancy. Zahra, Manijeh and Johanna were really great and supportive through out my pregnancy and the few weeks postpartum. The appointments were not rushed and usually lasts around 30 minutes. I felt very informed every visit and now I have a beautiful and healthy baby girl. I liked how they were available in any emergency and is very responsive.

Manijeh made me feel so comfortable and relaxed during both of my pregnancies. Her positive energy really rubs off on you! She was very supportive with regards to my personal decisions and she treated me with such a motherly approach. I would recommend anyone to see her!
