I would like to first clarify that I had a very enjoyable evening and the service was excellent. The food, though really good, didn't blow my mind as I hoped it would. The sashimi was fresh and the pacing and balance of the menu was good - however, I felt it lacked that extra something to push it into the upper echelon. Personally, it didn't live up to the hype - perhaps an indictment of my own expectations that were risen to lofty heights by my friends. Regardless, definitely worth the experience and I encourage everyone to give it a try at least once!
Amazing food,.Friendly services. Will come again
I wish I could give them 6 stars, as it's only fair when comparing them to the very select few other restaurants I've rated 5 stars previously. Kuroki is head and shoulder above the rest of the (Japanese) restaurants in town. Everything we had that evening was professionally prepared and presented. Blue-fin tuna was the star of the evening. Everything on each of the plates had a purpose and added to the dish. The sequencing and pacing was good. All the little things few customers notice and fewer chefs care, they got right. Portion is on the larger side. Atmosphere was warm and cozy, and service was attentive, as you'd expect from a husband-and-wife team.
So glad to have found this place, and I'm already planning my next visit!
Make a reservation a few days ahead. Plan for a 3-hour meal. Ample parking on the streets nearby.
Amazing experience! Ray and his wife made us feel at home right away, and made sure we had more than enough time to enjoy our meal. The omakase was delicious; every dish stood out in some way. The fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. Worth the money. Will be coming back!
Omakase only. Starts at $100. Your budget dictates the level of ingredients and Chef Ray puts it together for you with flair and imagination. Ray shines with his passion and years of cooking Japanese food. But honestly, splurge and be surprised. He knows where and what to get the best. We're treated to a wide variety of fish - no farmed fish is served; soup, tofu appetizer, crab meat with rice, udon... Real wasabi is used. The list just goes on. All in all we had 14 dishes on $100@.
