Travel back in time - this restaurant is over 200 years old!!! It's a unique corner in Vancouver (and in the world) with its own cost and nostalgic atmosphere.
The owner is a cute elderly and very British lady. She is sweet and funny. You will definitely get the vibe of an old-fashioned family-owned place, which is so rare in a big city.
This restaurant's charm is not for everyone! If you are looking for a modern popular establishments with impeccable service and food, don't come here.
This is not a fancy place (maybe it was like 100 years ago). It is slow and hidden. The staff have been working here for decades, they are old and chill. They won't go out of their way to make you feel like royalty. You are a customer, a pal, they will joke with you and mind their own business.
The food is tasty but old-fashioned, and prepared in a kind of home-made style. You may feel like you came to a British grandma for a tasty but definitely not fancy dinner.
The decor is unique and styled like England with pictures of the Royal family and maps of London underground. They are fun to explore but they are very old and will not make the impression of a nifty-clean place.
My advice: check it out with the expectation of the specific atmosphere of this place. If historic and old-fashioned is not what you enjoy, just don't go here.
Just ate here for my third time. It’s a great place to grab breakfast or lunch. Retro inspired diner with great classic food. Omelettes, Benedict’s, burgers, melts, meatloaf, etc.. all delicious ! Amazing pies for dessert as well. Cool mid century modern interiors and friendly staff to boot. All profits go to Meals on Wheels too. Definitely recommend this place!
Stella is definitely the star here. The Diner is run by an old British couple that have been serving traditional British breakfast, lunch and dinner for over 60 years. The food itself was decent but what keeps us coming back is the sassy/quirky/hilarious grandma that serves each table never failing to make customers laugh.
Guys beware, if you bring your significant other here, she will force you to propose on the spot with a ring pop. Avoid bringing your sister to make things less awkward.
Feels like an old fashioned family ran diner :-) Good English breakfast as I was hankering for one after being away for a few months! Although not sure the HP sauce was actually HP as there was no label on the bottle and it tasted slightly different. The bacon was also a tad chewy.
All in all not a bad experience, the ambience of the place made up for the maybe less than ideal food :-)
Authentic British menu. Full English breakfast with black pudding. British roast beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding. Definately done in English style. Owner has typical British humor. Can be taken wrong but not intended to be. True British diner. Worth a visit just for the experience.
(604) 224-1912 I have grown up in England for almost 9 years and I have missed having English Breakfast in the morning. My old coworker recommended me to go to this restaurant called "The Diner" by West 10th Avenue.

The Diner, tucked away on West 10th Avenue in West Point Grey Village, has been serving up affordably-priced diner classics and all-day breakfast for decades. This joint has a longstanding reputation as a dependable neighbourhood haunt with an astonishing amount of collectables celebrating the Royal Family.
