Beautiful building and amazing views

What I love about living at Oceana Parc – White Rock.

With 68 residents at last count, all aged from 66 to 95, the super-friendly staff appear to know every one of us by name even knowing our individual suite numbers. From administration to desk staff to chefs and waitresses, they greet each of us with many a bright hello throughout the day. Since I personally have such a hard time remembering names, I find this absolutely amazing.

Meals are fantastic, well-balanced, nutritious, varied and absolutely delicious. They compete most favourably with fare served in any restaurant I have eaten at in many a month. For each meal, we sit where we will and with whomever we choose. With so many happy faces, I try to sit with a different group at each serving. Conversations are generally lively no matter the group.

Activities at Oceana Parc are varied. Following months of relative inactivity since my wife’s illness and passing, I’m rebuilding muscles I’d sorely neglected for more than a year. Five mornings a week we are offered invigorating sessions of Parc Fit in our state-of-the-art gymnasium by our very own professional fitness trainer. Residents can also participate in Circuit Training, Parc Stretch, Parc Yoga and Meditation and Mindfulness.. There are art classes, drama classes, billiards and card games, bridge groups, movie nights and excursions. So much to choose from. One may also elect to sit and socialize or read the newspaper in any one of a number of comfortable lounges; go out for a walk, or watch television or read in the comfort of our own spacious rooms with high ceilings permitting the hanging of many favourite paintings. I still marvel at the fabulous views from my rooms and wide balcony. Sunsets and the reflection from sunrise are spectacular over the bay.

There’s so much to discover and do and, like so many of my fellow residents, this is only my second week here. I’m looking forward to a number of my past friends dropping by for a visit. I’m sure they’ll be impressed and possibly quite envious. They’ll be most welcome, not only by me but also by our friendly staff.

What a great asset to the neighborhood. I confirmed this morning, that the Oceana PARC building is now open in White Rock on George Street. The presentation Center is now located there.
