Texas Creek Campground

We were so happy to find this spot on a recent roadtrip--large, quiet sites, flush toilets, nice beach access. A great campsite with great hosts!

Road to campround is a little tight, drive slow and if you've got a really big rig this place is likely not what your looking for. Great camping sites, not too close to your neighbor and it was quiet, weather was quite warm even mid June, but cooled off nicely at night. Outhouses are okay, some with sinks but not terribly ADA friendly transitions or toilet seat heights. Main washroom/shower has a fantastic ADA combo toilet and shower and sink. Huge room with proper automatic doors, handrails, bath bench. Unfortunately because of the shower it is often in use by able-bodied... be prepared to wait to use the toilet. The bath bench was okay in height but kinda small. The toilet was too low for an ADA toilet at 17.5-18 inches... 19.5-20 inches is much better even for those elderly folks who just have bad knees. Main pathway transitions from gravel road to paved path to washroom may be a problem for some powerchairs or scooters. Loose gravel with 1/2"-3/4" lip so I had to come at it from the side where it was more flush. Doorways no issue in main washroom. However the outhouses may be a bit tight for some power equipment but in a manual chair your likely fine. Roadways and campsites are gravel and reasonably hard packed in most places (watch the edges) my scooter tires are pretty meaty and had no issue. I wouldn't have wanted to use my small powerchair (Golden Tech Literider) as its too rough for smaller tires. Paths to the beaches are steep and rough and its a long way... not really ADA accessible unless your equipment is "all-terrain". I did get down and back up the main path to the beach where I could see the lake, but the last bit of the paths down to the water's edge were way too rough and steep. I used my Buzzaround Extreme XL scooter, the one with the high ground clearance and I needed to avoid many large rocks protruding from the washboard path. There is a boat launch about a block before the campground that might work to access the water and there is a provincial park day use area at the other end of town. Paved path near main washroom building but it ends at the parking lot and before you reach the beach. About 20 feet of sparce grass/gravel mix before you reach the sand. Some shady picnic tables right there at the end of the path with partial lake views but you would need a balloon tire beach wheelchair to reach the water as there is sand for 20-30 feet until lake edge.

I usually don't like to camp at Provincial Parks and choose Forestry Rec Sites instead. Our stay here may have changed that forever, though. Great park, beautiful lake! My wife and I loved the beach, which is really more of a series of little private(ish) beaches. Some of the sites are pretty open, while others are nicely treed and private. My only complaint, really, is the walk down to and up from the lake itself. It's enough of a climb back up that any cooling off the water did may be gone by the time you're back to your camp site. The free heated showers definitely help, though!

Awesome campsite and hosts. Very clean and lots of amenities: flush toilets, showers, sinks for dishes and boat launch. Pet friendly. Small beaches just a short walk away. Really spacious sites with lots of distance between each spot. Lovely hiking trails with amazing views of the lake.
