Full of history regarding the fishing industry. Definitely check it out if you are in Steveston. Also great place for picnics.
We where recommend by the guide at the tram museum to come here and again it was all totally free to visit. What a wonderful place to wonder around, a step back in history to when the place was a thriving fishing industry. It has so much to see from where the fishermen bunked down during the season to the net houses where the nets where dried and repaired, plus the canneries where the fish where caught and then tinned. The site had many information boards at each place telling you all about the history and the guides in the attractions are very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great day and would certainly recommend a visit to anyone coming to the area.
If you are lucky, you will encounter the off spring of the family home preserved on the site and hear tales of the lives with amazing details. A real treat in Steveston Village to see such care in preserving the many buildings that was once hustling and bustling with fishing industry activities. There are buildings that families lived in, buildings where boats were built and repaired and buildings that were once canneries. Enjoy this quite corner of Richmond full of historic little treats.
Love that
Cool, local spotlight on Stevestons history and that of the entire fishing industry in the region
