Hoke Poke & Tea Bar

Picked up lunch before an appointment; son chose Yuzuke and really liked it. I had the Ohana and it was also good, but I found it a little heavy on the onions. While we ordered in person at the counter I later checked the online features out and felt they seemed straightforward. I'm a little shocked that the non-spicy tuna options both cost extra. It's not a lot more, but when the poke is already quite pricey, I don't see why the "cheap" tuna is 50 cents more. Also, I wasn't impressed with the spicy tuna, which was a mushy spicy tuna paste. My son, who LOVES spicy tuna, wasn't sure what it was until he ate it and even then thought the texture was strange.

Ordered the Chef's Special and the Ono Bowl.
Loved it. A bit on the sweet side for me but nothing was really over powering. Portion was good. Wishes there wasoreas more options for the rice. They had Brown and White, I think Quinoa would have been a nice option. Overall it was great and would definitely go back.

Nice presentation and packing for takeout. Pretty healthy takeout option. Ala Moana was good and pineapple drink was good. It says it's cold pressed pineapple juice but it is mixed with green tea. I think pure cold preshed pineapple juice would have made it more awesome. Only drawback was the spicy tuna tasted a bit on the fishy side.

Super easy ordering with great app and lots of customizable options that make creating your own personal poke bowl a really fun experience. Then you get a very generous portion of tasty fresh quality ingredients and all at a very reasonable price with great friendly service too. Perfect take out packaging for a picnic in beautiful Steveston. I will be eating here very often.

I've been to this location twice - so glad that a poke place opened up closer to us. I did create your own bowls both times! The first time, everything was great. The portions could be a bit larger but no other complaints. Today, the sauces, the salmon and the shrimp were all delicious, but the brown rice base was terrible! The rice was undercooked, with hard grains that I had to spit up with every bite. I considered driving back to get it replaced - it was that bad. Eventually I just microwaved some of my own leftover white rice to eat with the toppings. Do not get the brown rice in the future - my husband's white rice tasted fine.
