Wow, where do I even begin?

For starters, my parents and I began to consider buying our first home at the beginning of the year before the start of my first university semester in September.
However, as the pandemic hit Canada in March, this became the least of our concerns. Once the province finally started to move forward with new regulations and restrictions were lifted, we became increasingly stressed as time flew by.

With no knowledge of our mortgage situation, home-type, or even desired city, and the fact that my parents are not 100% fluent in English, finding a home a few months before University started for me deemed to be an impossible task.

However, that’s where Jason steps in. Through Oakwyn Realty, we were able to connect with Jason Youn, a person that has now become my role model. Here are some reasons why I found Jason to be the perfect real estate agent:

    Firstly, is his knowledge.
What was life-saving for my family was that Jason is Korean, meaning that I no longer had to translate any questions or details missed. Whether it was open houses, document details, or general conversation, Jason’s fluency in both Korean and English allowed for a smooth process for both my parents and me. Additionally, I found out that Jason worked in the banking industry before real estate, meaning that his knowledge of mortgages and other financial inquires as well as his connections are a cut above other real estate agents.

    Secondly, is his professionalism.
Throughout the 2020 year of searching for a place, I was heavily, if not the most involved in this process. Despite being much younger than Jason, I found that while it was very comfortable to talk with him, he never crossed the line of professionalism. In discussions or over text, Jason was always able to deliver the same tone of respect for me as he did with my parents. Another example is his transparency. As a business student, one aspect of the business world I’ve grown to hate is dishonesty―scamming or manipulating to rise to the top. In the cases of a family friend, this was unfortunately somewhat the case with their agent. Despite me and especially my mom being cautious of our friend’s experience, meeting Jason washed those worries away. Essentially, the mixture of his friendliness and professional integrity allowed us to feel comfortable in buying our first home.

    Finally, is his attitude.
Like mentioned before, our family had no idea of our mortgage situation, home-type, or even desired city. In other words, we were not the typical home-buyers, even if it was our first home. For several months, we went back and forth between Langley and Maple Ridge as well as townhouses, condos, and even considered mobile homes at one point. To be quite honest, searching for a place that fit our requirements took way too long. However, through this gruelling process of going back and forth between cities and price budgets, Jason’s attitude was incredible. When multiple offers didn’t go through or some homes just missed our budget, our family’s patience hit its limit at times. Even though these abnormally stressful months, Jason was able to consistently comfort and lift our spirits without any complaints or hint of annoyingness. “Hey, don’t worry Dan, we’ll find a better place.” These types of encouraging phrases kept our searching efforts alive. Along with meeting Jason constantly through weekends on end at times, there was the texting/calling aspect. Even if we had burning questions late at night, Jason would always happily respond to anything we asked, no matter how busy he was with other errands or what time it was.

Of course, this review can only tell so much and my words can only describe so much. However, I hope this has provided some insight on not only how grateful I am for Jason, but also how genuine of a person he is and his passion for helping others.
Feel free to reach out to me if you want to learn more in-depth about my experience as well as why Jason Youn is the right real estate agent for anyone, especially for you.

    Dan
