When I shared my photos from this museum with my family back home, my sister expressed how she wished we had similar sculptures to evoke laughter in everyone. The economy is hard enough, and these would brighten anyone’s day.
Such a cute and funny art installation out in English Bay! My husband and I had a lot of fun taking photos imitating the artist’s facial expressions and body language. There’s always people here so if you want photos with no one in the background, the best time to go is in the morning before 10:00. We noticed that people tend to start their days a little later or they have already started their day early if they’re heading to the mountains. People also stay out pretty late in the summers since the sun doesn’t set until after 9:30 p.m. Have fun!
Although it was a dismal rainy day in downtown Vancouver when my daughter and I were visiting mid May, these laughing sculptures brightened it up immensely.
Located in Morton Park (Davie and Denman) along the English Bay, these 14 bronze statues depict the artist’s own image in hysterical laughter. An inscription carved into the cement seating reads, ”May this sculpture inspire laughter playfulness and joy in all who experience it.”
While we were there, this installation was indeed enjoyed by all. Kids were playing on them, selfies were taken by young and old alike and everyone was smiling and laughing.
We need more installations like this one in the world.
This installation marked the beginning of our walk around Stanley Park.
A very cute and interesting attraction, inspiring fun and laughter. Just by a beautiful beach, a small park to relax.
Very nice park right at English Bay beach. The statues are a great piece of art with a wonderful purpose of invoking laughter in people and they do solve their purpose very well. The area around the amazing laughter park is very lively with lots of nice restaurants. Stanley Park is close by too. Nice place to spend few hours for people of all age groups.
