Dorothy's Guest House

Recently, my husband and I booked a room for a week at Dorothy’s Guesthouse so that we could explore Nanaimo and the island. Staying there was one of the best travel decisions we’ve made. The location was excellent--central to everywhere on the island, an easy walk to downtown, near beautiful parks and close to the ferries. The house itself was charming and comfortable; tidy, clean and cozy. Dorothy was an absolute gem of a host: welcoming, generous, and fun. She made sure we knew about restaurants, parks, interesting places to visit and things to do. And the rates were quite reasonable. With much enthusiasm, I highly recommend Dorothy’s. We will definitely return.

We recently stayed at Dorothy's for 3 nights while exploring Nanaimo by bike. Excellent location as it is just a short ride to the ferry terminal, downtown, the seawall, and also the ferries to Newcastle and Gabriola. Dorothy was a lovely host and welcomed us into her home. Our room was clean and comfy. So much nicer than a cold hotel. The house is an older character house with lots of personality and charm. Great kitchen and eating area, and having a meal out on the deck amongst all the flower pots was a highlight. There is also an inviting living room to share with other guests. We will definitely re-book at Dorothy's!

I stayed at Dorothy's Guest House many times over a period of several years for my work. I found Dorothy to be always courteous and kind, the house spotless, the rates very reasonable,and many returning guests. I recommend the guest house unreservedly.
