I come here very often. There are a few massive problems as there are a ton of people that go down there that are sketchy. Also the bottom of one of the banks has far too many cracks in it and has sent me flying off of it. Locals there are very helpful and considerate with beginners.
Pretty large skate park. Lots of drop in ramps. It is exposed to the beach so can be really cold when the wind blows as there is no shelter.
Best place on earth.
This is rad. I was on a committee in the 90's (yeah.. dinosaur age) and we worked our axxes off to make this park happen for years. I personally designed the park (still have the working plans) and I really wanted a park that had big room between everything and you could flow without smashing in to anyone. I designed all the ledges, rails, coping, etc for what I and my crew were looking for and also what I remember needing as a beginner so there was opportunity for newbies to learn/grow but also a mix of the stuff we'd search out in Van. Fun fact, originally the city wanted it up by Springwood and hired a designer that designed the most deadly (in a bad way) bowl. We fought for this new location and raised (if I recall) over $100k, city threw in the land, and Lions Club kicked in some more, and no more death bowl. Cool to see the love still there. Enjoy!
