Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre

Learn about the local culture of Whistler and the traditions that were honored in the valley through out the ages. Their cafe serves a wide range of snacks and the gift shop features local artisans handiwork and fine art.
You can also create traditions of your own in their event space.

During my time as a driver guide I always recommended my guest to visit the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre and also try the food at the cafe. Nowadays, I do the same with my friends when we visit Whistler.

Had the chance to go there again a few weeks ago and I had the salmon chowder with bannock once again, and it was delicious (as usual).
You can visit the cafe from Thursday to Sunday, they are open for dine in, with reduce capacity and masks are mandatory.

Fantastic display of cultural artifacts and vertical slices from the lives of elders. I would suggest the traditional attire and cedar hand crafting displays for sure

Ordered the salmon chowder and it was delicious; perfect for a cold winter's day! The portion looks small but it's actually quite filling. I was feeling full after the meal.

A very welcoming experience 😊 You are greeted with traditional drumming and song by the friendly staff that keep this gem running. There are guided tours every hr that start with a short film and introduction to the museum.This space is a gorgeous open space with 3 floors with a beautiful gift shop aswell as a delicious cafe on the lower floor. The tour itself takes about 20 min and after you are free to wonder yourself. This place is light on history but is focused on beautiful traditions like basket weaving and way of life that once was. The parking is very limited so I suggest you take the free shuttle from the village or park in the big open lot about 3 blocks away (a nice walk on a sunny day ) Bathroom 🚻 are clean and very nice .You are aloud to take pictures just not in the theater room . We don't have children but this place would be nice to take well behaved children as there are a few open its not for touch . There are stairs or an elevator for baby strollers. We had a wonderful time and will go back to see the live carving and basket weaving classes they put on. A special culture we were thrilled to learn more about.
