“What a treasure! Tucked away off the road, sits this charming 200+year-old heritage home, containing many artifacts and pieces original to the site. The house, outbuildings and property are so well kept. The admission building is just off the parking lot, visible from route 11. Small interpretation area, giftshop and washrooms. Visitors are taken by wagon to the site. In 2018, the driver was very charming and the owner the team of horses. The farm has a selection of animals, and there is access to the beach. Summer students offer a tour of the house, which is bright but cool and contains so much history. Plan at least 1.5 hours.”

“Fun activity to do in the Miramichi, especially on a hot summer day. We did the short run, which took just shy of 2 hours. When you arrive, there are bathrooms and change rooms. There is also a key-drop to leave your car keys so you don’t risk losing them in the river. After buying your ticket, a bus brings you to the start area. It’s about a 10 minute bus ride. From the start zone, you pick your tube (take note - some have cup holders built in, but not all). They provide straps to tie several peoples tubes together, which is great. Highly recommend getting a cooler tube if you have anything you want to bring on the river with you. There were some rocky sections where you have to walk a bit if the water is low. Make sure you were sturdy shoes (ideally water shoes).”

“Visited this site for the first time last week. It was neat to ride in a boat to the island. We hiked the perimeter trail of the island. It isn't difficult but is a good walk. We really enjoyed it. Not a ton to see for artifacts but the natural environment was beautiful. We highly recommend it.”
