It was great! Ghosts n' Nat were awesome
Was just at Hull House this evening for the women of the civil war tour. As usual it was enlightening and informative. I especially enjoyed the presentation of Carmen Swans as Susan Baker King Taylor, Deanna Van Pryz was right in character as Mary Chestnut and Dianna Cummings was powerful as Harriet Tubman.
I have seen MS. Swans at Hull House a few years back for another lantern tour and was impressed with her portrayal. I just wish I could remember who she portrayed.
I have lived around the corner from this amazing piece of history for 22 years and I finally had the chance to visit during a day it was open to the public. It was an absolutely amazing experience, not only because of the antiques, replicas and condition of the house, but because of the passion and knowledge of the volunteers. We spent over 2 hours here but we could have stayed all day - there was so much to see and learn about. Every is hands on; you can lay on the beds, sit in all the furniture, and play with the old toys. The volunteers welcomed questions and had amazing personal stories that made this experience so wonderful. I will definitely be visiting again!
Donna was an excellent source of knowledge and her concern over the reenactors was heartwarming.
Awesome place to go to learn about some local history or about what life was like in the 1700's. Staff is friendly and VERY knowledgeable. You'll have a good time.
