“A great hike with great views”

“I did this hike today from Bay Bulls to the Shoal Bay Road trail head near Goulds. It total about 24km. There were places with snow and ice creating occasion slippery conditions but that wasn’t unexpected for a December hike. For the most part the hike was amazing. There were amazing views. With over 1000m of over vertical, some challenging footing and close proximity to cliff’s edges, this is not a hike that should be done if you’re inexperienced and don’t have decent boots and other gear. The only really bad part of the hike is the dreary 6km of the Shoal Bay Road you need to walk to get to or from the North end of the Spout Trail. In some places it is pretty much a stream so unless you have decent boots you will get wet feet. In December much of this is frozen making navigating it a slow tedious task. That said, it is worth it to experience the rest of the hike.”
