Lots to explore, with a good amount of walking to tire out the kids. The staff are very approachable and knowledgeable, and had all kinds of cool stuff to tell us about the site and the history that existed there before the Brits.
Small and very manageable with lots to explore. The fact that it's a reproduction actually meant that you could touch things, which made it WAY more interactive and engaging for kids. In fact, this is where we discovered Parks Canada's Xplorers program, and our kiddos came to look forward to their "quests" at other sites during our vacation!
Friendly and informative staff. Washrooms available. Not wheelchair accessible.
Port Royal is a great place to learn some local history. It's hard to believe a time when furr trades was the way of living, but yet it was. The historic property is so well maintained and has a beautiful view of the ocean. The kids did a scavenger hunt to keep them entertained, and they got really into it. I recommend it for all ages.
If you like a place where you can feel like you are authentically transported back in time to when the earliest French settlers came to this land and lived in harmony with the Natives, then this is the place. Well researched and well created, this museum in the wild; answered questions I had while researching my mother's family roots. If you're in the area, you HAVE to visit this place!
Amazing! Well maintained, parking lot is decently close but not a lot of spaces. I would imagine it fills in quickly. A great interactive historical site, and has knowledgeable staff throughout the area. You can step back in time and feel just what it was like to live for these men. Open and beautiful areas and even has picnic tables if you wish to make a day of it, which I highly recommend.
