Metro Regional Housing is good a crises. We have had floods and fires at Joseph Howe Manor and they came through every time. They are also good at day to day operations, the place is clean but only fairly well managed. There is a proven noise problem that affects the ninth floor.
The previous general manager, Patricia (Pat) Lawrence tried to get a sound engineer before she retired in August 2013. Her replacement, Janet Burt-Gerrans admits the noise but refuses to get an engineer. She does not like my Joe Howe News, a monthly critique of Metro's management which is a document of record at the Public Archives of NS. In fact, we're going to small claims court to let them decide if a tenant can criticize his landlord as a journalist. Peter McGuigan MA
