We came across the Rope Loft by accident. We were looking for somewhere to eat in Chester on a Saturday evening and drove along the waterfront looking for somewhere to park when we saw several people walking to this pub/restaurant and decided it was worth a look. Although we had to wait 25 minutes for a table for two, we are glad we did. It was our wedding anniversary and we had an excellent meal on the back terrace looking out across the water. The food was reasonably priced and apart from the shortage of desserts that were listed (I got my third choice) the service was great.
This is a beautiful spot. They have a great selection of local beers on tap as well as some standard favorites. A good variety of food options to choose from. My wife and I visited for my Birthday and after a long day in the heat it was very refreshing to sit a d relax on the patio next to the water. Even though our waitress forgot to tell the kitchen about our appetizer, she was very apologetic and made sure that we had it as soon as possible. Let me tell you though that it wouldn't have mattered if we waited all night for our food because it was worth it. The mussels were delicious, my wife ordered the lobster roll and said it was her favorite among many others she has tried. I thoroughly enjoyed the Shellfish linguine, it was probably the best seafood pasta dish I've ever had, there was a lot of shrimp, scallops, lobster and mussels to enjoy. We finished off with a delectable chocolate fudge brownie. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
Chowder was very good. Butter was not butter but "20/80" with mostly margarine and tasted old which wrecked my lobster and bread. Beer excellent, local wine had oxidized but the Chilean wine was fine. Staff is terrific. I was later told to stick with burgers and fish and chips. Will give it a second chance but may bring my own butter.
Perfect location on the water, we decided on an outside table and what a spectacular view. Very friendly & accommodating staff. Average prices for such a wonderful location. (¯`·._.·Nscave·._.·´¯)®️
Gorgeous spot for lunch as we drove to Peggy's Cove.
Our server was polite and friendly. Nice menu. I chose the crab cakes which were plentiful if a little bland. Would definitely go back though.
