I am a 66-year-old female suffering with Crohn's Disease since the age of 21. This disease has also caused me to have Raynaud's Disease and Inflammatory arthritis. For many years I have taken prednisone, various arthritis medications and pain medications to maintain a state of remission. In 2014 I had a major setback which accelerated the inflammatory arthritis. My back and Both of my knees were severely affected. I had meniscus tears, subchondral marrow edema and chondromalacia patella, baker cysts, osteoarthritic changes and a decrease in my bone density. I was receiving cortisone injections quite frequently, physio therapy and ultra sounds. Until 2014 I enjoyed an active life of walking, hiking and yoga with minimal restrictions. We have 4 levels in our house with many stairs, I could barely walk up or down the stairs safely, I was dragging my feet and constantly limping, I walked with a cane and most often assisted by my spouse, I endured many sleepless nights because of the pain. At this point the specialists suggested that I required two knee replacements, the appointment for the surgery was booked. Dane, the Owner of Dungeon Performance Inc. and personal trainer came to visit me and tried to encourage me to come to the gym. Never having been a member of a gym and being frightened that I could further injure myself I declined. The mobility in my body became so restricted and the pain so intense that I finally decided to go. After my initial assessment where Dane worked on me, I was able to walk up and down the stairs. I have been going twice a week ever since. I cancelled my knee surgeries, I currently have stopped all my cortisone injections, ultra sounds and physio therapy, I do not take any more pain meds and have decreased the arthritic meds to their lowest dosage, I have gained my ability to walk almost 2km at a time without a cane or other assisted devices, I can walk properly up and down the stairs, I can lift heavy items without hurting myself, I have my self-esteem back and another positive outcome I experienced was that my bone density increased. My Specialists are shocked at how well I am. I am so grateful that Dane kept encouraging me to come to the gym and trust that he had the expertise to help me, my two session a week are now a priority for me.

I am a 58!year old active female (triathlons, cycling, skate skiing, downhill skiing), with musculoskeletal problems since my teens. I had Harrington Rod surgery in 1976 for scoliosis. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis (big toe, SI joints, above & below the rod) in my 20’s. I was in an MVA sustaining a fracture of C7(“broken neck”). For years, although I was very active (running & working out at gym) I did it with pain and frequent injuries. The osteoarthritis in my big toe was so severe (bone on bone) I had a joint replacement(successful????). Two years later I had the 2nd toe fused with surgery (tors are still curled under and twisted. In my early 50s I tore both rotator cuffs (two years apart). Since my 20s I have seen many physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, orthopaedic surgeons, accupuncture. More recently in the last 1 1/2 years I have been experiencing episodes of severe abdominal & back pain with severe vomiting requiring a trip to the hospital for IV medications. I was averaging 1-2 trips a month to the hospital. I had every gastric study you can think of with no answers. A couple of months ago it was suggested (at one of my trips to hospital) that the back pain was as a result of effects from the rod, The back pain/spasm pulled on the abdomen and set of my nervous (PNS) system causing unrelentless vomiting. I agree with this view (totally makes sense). I was told about Dane at Dungeon Performance Inc. of course, I was skeptics and hesitant. I cautiously booked an assessment as it was free so thought “what have I got to lose”. I was impressed by Dane’s knowledge but still had my “cautious” front on. I decided to try a few sessions. I have to tell you not to expect typical Physio/chiro assessment and treatment/exercises. Dane is so knowledgeable about musculoskeletal anatomy/function/ exercise. His treatment plan did not include tackling the actual site of problems hands on directly on those spots- which is contrary to all other treatments I have had over the years. He was confident that my symptoms were as a result of weak muscles/opposite strong muscles, with continued structural problems as a result of scoliosis (not fixed 100%), the rod and all my past injuries. At appointments, he gets certain muscles activated and puts me through specific exercises (numerous amazing equipment- much like no other I have seen). Although I still have symptoms, the time WITHOUT symptoms has been increasing in duration????. For the first time in many years I feel that I am in good hands and making progress which affect my life so positively forever. Although insurance companies don’t cover the treatments, I make these treatments a priority and feel they are worth it. PS- be ready to feel muscles that never knew you had.
