When I needed a replacement water heater, they were there when the rental company let me down (phone system glitch). So I thought why use a company centralized miles away. Next came the heat & air, then kitchen rewire to newer code. Always use them for all my electric and gas needs.
I’m a repeat customer, as I had an air conditioner installed through Ray Electric (in Cambridge) about 10 years ago.
This time, I needed a service panel upgrade from 100A to 200A. Ray Electric took care of permits, hydro dis/re-connection, and installation. Steve arrived promptly, and outlined the required work. He was concise and provided multiples quotes/options as I didn’t know exactly which path I wanted to take. Steve quickly responded to my many email inquiries, and easily pivoted when I made a last minute change.
My installers (Craig and James) showed up on-time, they we’re polite, friendly, and professional. Installation took an entire day (~8 hours) and the job was done to exacting standards. They even took time out to answer my questions during the process.
I’m very satisfied with the results and would highly recommend them should you need electrical work done. These guys are the gold standard. Thanks Ray Electric! I’m sure we’ll do business again.
Review of Ray Electric, Cambridge, Ontario for Google
I had a big job at my house, replacing my 40-year-old oil furnace, A/C, removal of the oil tank and conversion to natural gas. Ray Electric of Cambridge, Ontario completed everything from all of the permits needed, removal of the old furnace, the oil tank and A/C, installation of a new furnace and A/C and worked with Union Gas to get service to my house and connected to natural gas. All I had to do was write the check and Ray Electric took care of everything from the beginning to the end.
Craig and James (installers) are the gold-standard of craftsmanship both constantly pushing the envelope to make a great seamless installation, and respectful. Both are truly talented people. Steve Ray (owner) is an honestly good person who always finds a way to get things done.
I very much enjoyed Ray Electric and I am very satisfied with their timelessness and quality, they delivered what they said they would do and did it with outstanding craftsmanship. I would highly recommended Ray Electric of Cambridge, Ontario to anyone for any gas furnace or A/C needs, there is a good reason why this company has been in business since 1909.

I came online just to look up the phone no. for Ray Electric & was shocked to see the low star rating. Once reading the reviews (someone has the nerve to trash a company without ever having secured their services?) I felt I must write to inform the public. It's been a few years ago now, but I had Ray Electric install a new furnace for me I purchased from them. They were amazing. The son installed it at that time. Something went wrong with it right at the onset (a part under warrantee -- a manufacturer's defect -- not this company's fault) & they took care to replace that part, made a second trip here, didn't charge me, polite & helpful from the get-go. The owner was knowledgeable & courteous. I do wish they stayed open a little later than 4 p.m., but that doesn't impact their service at all. So, here's to you, Ray Electric (who have been in business over 100 yrs). You are doing things right, or you wouldn't last!
