Stoney Island Conservation Area

Great tiny beach with a nice hiking trail!

Hidden gem near Kincardine that is great for hikes with the family. During winter activities are limited to snowshoeing and crosscountry but at other times of the year it's open to hiking. There is a maze of trails for hours of walking through the forest, with a ton of signs to help you find your way.

The beach is a great treat if you make it. Can get muddy so wear the right shoes.

Stoney Island has amazing trails for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced trails are offered in a variety of distances. The trails are a series of loops that you can repeat with ease. My children, aged 10, 12, and 15, who are all new to cross country skiing this year, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There were only a few hills, and if you stick to the Beginner trail these can be completely avoided. The trails run entirely through the bush and come close enough to the lake that you can snap a few pics. My family highly recommends Stoney Island Conservation Area for skiing and snowshoeing. A cost of $5 per family or $3 per person is required by drop box.
